I was gifted a character bust made by @jeannedarcprice and look at this man! I've always imagined he'd grow his hair out and look how well it suits him~

BTV OC question time! Is your character left or right handed? What does your their handwriting look like?

Arielle: Ari is left-handed. Her handwriting used to be messy from lack of use, but after writing a lot more letters as the Inquisitor, and some not so subtle hints from Josie, it’s gotten a lot neater. She still has trouble with it being a bit too big though, so the last few lines of what she writes get squished really close together at the bottom of the page.

Bart: Bart is right-handed. Being from a noble background this boy actually has beautiful handwriting. It’s one of the few things he’s pretty proud of, mostly cause it’s one of the only things people complimented him on growing up.

8. How easy is it to earn your character’s trust? How easy is it to lose their trust?

Arielle: Arielle is usually cautious of new people, but if you don’t give her a reason not to trust her, or overwhelm her curiosity, she’ll let her guard down soon enough. The quickest way to lose her trust is to make her feel unsafe around you and question her judgement. She also takes deceit pretty personally, but if you’re able to show her you’re genuinely sorry you’ll win back her trust eventually.

Bart: Bart is always seizing people up, so how easy it is to win his trust completely depends on what he thinks of you. Even then it’s very unlikely you’ll ever become a confidant to him. This boy keeps his emotions under lock and key, he doesn’t share them easily. But cause he keeps his cards close to his chest it’s actually pretty hard to lose his trust since there’s not much you can do to really hurt and betray him. As he always says, ‘people do what they’ve got to do’.

Another piece of The Light That Binds Us which shows why Varric’s nickname for Ariel will be Magpie.

She folded the papers up and stuffed them into the overflowing backpack.

“I doubt you would get much for those,” the mage piped up.

“For what?” she mumbled through a mouthful of crusty bread. So much for etiquette.  

“For the things you looted from this place, and a few others by the looks of things,” he nodded at the backpack.

“Looting?! I’m not looting…I’m collecting,” she quickly did the bag back up and nudged it closer to her.

“For what purpose?”

“What purpose? Uh…” she struggled to swallow the last of the dry bread down. “…research.” She finally said as if she’d only just learned the meaning of the word.

“Research?”

“Yes. It’s not like I ran into humans every day.”

“I see,” he clearly did not. “Does that research include this gigantic sword at my feet?”

The candlelight stroked the blade on the floor, making its surface appear molten.

“Considering I can barely lift the thing, probably not,” but then she didn’t like the prospect of leaving such a weapon where anyone could find it.

“Then I think I’ll like to take it with me. I don’t know if I can make much use of it myself, but a Grey Warden-issued great sword would serve as a good deterrent against any bandits.”

“What would you need a sword for? You have your magic.”

“Oh, I don’t have any magic,” he started rubbing his forehead.

“But, you said you used to be with the Ferelden Circle…” the realisation of what he was saying hit her stomach before her brain.

“I was…” he pushed his fringe all the way back, revealing the mark on his forehead to be some kind of brand. A brand in the shape of something even she knew well: the sunburst of The Chantry.  “…You have heard of the Tranquil, haven’t you?”
