The worst time to get an unexpected knock at the door--when he's laying on the couch feeling like shite trying to take a nap that doesn't want to come. It seems like every time he starts to slip into restfulness, something new wakes him up. This time, the door. And while at first he considers completely ignoring it, the person is persistent. Eventually, he heaves a groan of a sigh and drags his sorry ass off the couch, shuffling to the door. A glance through the peephole and then he sighs.

"I'm sorry this really is not a good time," he says quickly the instant he opens the door. Maybe it sounds a little rude, but he just wasn't in the mood for company. His patience for interruptions has sort of worn thin at this point.

"I was jus' layin' down for a bit 'f a rest, um..."

open to anyone!! ↳ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ; ᴀʀɪɴ ⊹ plot: takes place a decade or so after Arin became an immortal warlock (period/historic fantasy setting preferred); a wealthy nobleman of high rank who has gained rapport with the royal family as their private physician--under the table, he works with those who dabble in the occult, witches, and supernatural creatures with a specialty in black magic/rites && curses; y/m could be the stranger in question, one of the servants, someone who knows he is a warlock, etc @indiestarter

"I was not aware I was having guests today," Arin says, teeth gritted in a smile as he tries to maintain politeness. He shoots a look at one of his staff, though, a warning and perhaps a question of who the hell this person was standing in the foyer of his castle.

"My apologies, but, um..." He claps his hands together, brows furrowing as he shakes his head in thought. "Who- who are you? Who is this?" He looks for ana answer from the servant who had let the stranger in, glancing back aand forth between the two of them. Whoever might answer him first, it seems. He's known for a sharp temper, so it's best not to keep him waiting.

open to anyone!! ↳ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ; ᴀʀɪɴ ⊹ appears ~45. warlock. has a temper & a violent streak. deals in the occult & dark magic in secret. likes tea, parties, and Irish whiskey before rebirth // au -- historical fantasy setting taking place approximately a decade after Arin became an immortal warlock plot: y/m is Arin's advisor/assistant/friend and although they're used to Arin's partying and overindulgence as well as his tendency to shirk off duties, they aren't immune from frustration. y/m has come to wake Arin as he's been sleeping all day and has an important meeting with the royal family/nobles/duke/etc shortly

"Ah, Jaysus," he exclaims as the curtains are stripped open with irritable violence. A hand lifts to ease the stun of the sunlight suddenly burning into Arin's irises. Nose wrinkles, a grimace on his face as he forces himself to sit up. He's in a bit of a bedraggled state, his hair a mess, clothes half-on, his sleeping quarters an absolute disaster. It's not exactly an uncommon sight, though, as his advisor well knows. Clearly it doesn't stop them from being utterly annoyed by his resistance to being woken in the mid-afternoon.

"Couldn't ya do that a little gentler," Arin hisses irritably as he adjusts his clothes and wipes at his eyes. His head is pounding after a night of far too much drink, his body feeling as though it's full of lead. He coughs, throat dry and stomach twisting in knots.

"What time is 't anyway? For what reason have you woken me so rudely?"

drabble/open starter feel free to reply as if this were a starter if you would like, this was rattling around in my brain and I had to put it somewhere

"Oh, god's real, all right," Arin scoffs at the other's dismissal. Arms folded firmly over his chest, he rolls his eyes, shaking his head. "Very real. Except god's an animal..." Teeth grit with the word. "A nasty, rambunctious, greedy thing." A beat, looking away for a moment, his eyes distant.

"This god feeds on th' children and breeds chaos to th' brokenhearted. This god takes what's desperate an' twists 't into something..." He clenches his fingers, shaking his hand as he tries to think of the word, expression tense. "Something so...s- so- so bloated. A gluttonous, vicious creature gifted with a power it could never fully handle on 'ts own." He swallows, tears glazing his vision slightly.

"An' that's how it lives, this.. this- this god. It feeds. And it eats. And it consumes th' pain of this- this- this creation! A fekkin' parasite birthed out of a god, created to be completely reliant on the very same." Another long, weighted pause as he slowly shakes his head. "That's god." He looks down into his glass of whiskey, heart heavy. "Tha's th' only one I've ever met, anyway..." He downs the drink.
