It's because many places still use BMI, which simply takes how much you weigh and compares it to your height. It doesn't take into account muscle mass or bone density, and is wildly inaccurate even excepting those. My friend (who is 6'4) is constantly told she should be in the 160-170 range. Except for the fact that the last time she weighed that much she looked nearly skeletal. 

It also doesn't acknowledge the fact that there are different body types, ectomorphs, endomorphs, and mesomorphs. Ectomorphs are those people with the wildly high functioning metabolism that can eat pretty much anything and basically have no weight worries. Endomorphs are the opposite. Our bodies hold onto as much fat as possible (which I might add is an evolutionary advantage), and may be some of the fittest people but still have some pudge...think husky lumberjack. 

It's just frustrating to me that doctor's offices still use such an outdated and wildly inaccurate system. 

Wow...sorry for the wall of text. This is something that I apparently ge worked up about.

AHHHHHHHH!?!?!! I'm so jealous!

I KNOW. 

He was so sweet, and his line moved a lot slower than other ones, but that's because he was making an effort to chit chat with everyone who wanted to, and I justs;ldkjf;alkdsjfkeje. 

I also got to thank him, because Two Towers came out on DVD right around the same time that my mom passed away and the "there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for" had a huge impact on me. He added the smiley face after we talked about how cancer sucks. 

I just....what even happened this weekend?
