The Tangled Fandom needs to stay as joyful, whimsical and peaceful as Rapunzel herself... We can not allow what happened to the Moana fandom come to us. Most of the Moana fandom is awesome... However a faction has twisted and darkened it with their attacks on the Frozen fandom and others... Insulting and accusations if you disagree with them... We can not let any part of the fandom be drawn down such a path.

I love the Tangled fandom. I’ve written multiple posts (mostly on my other blog) singing its praises and talking about how grateful I am that we’re harmonious. I am proud that, even when we don’t agree on things, we discuss them rationally and thoughtfully, without discourse.

Seriously, I love you guys. This fandom is my family. And I know we can all enjoy the upcoming series together, with witty banter and even disagreements, but that we’ll be just as strong on the other side.

Tangled is not about what’s better. It’s not about competition with other franchises. We love ourselves for the joy this movie and now series brings us. And I love you guys. You’ve gotten me through a lot in the past six and a half years. I am so happy to see the fandom in full swing again.

And we’re just getting warmed up! ♥

Shipping these days love to get out of hand... As an Artist I've seen my share of absurdity... Raps and Cass will be tame compared to most. Call me old fashion but I am also a stickler for Canon... So I will be a Raps and Eugene ship all the way.

I like to say that Rapunzel and Eugene put the O in OTP for me. If I had to ship one couple, and only one, for the rest of my days, they would be it. It is very difficult for me to see them with anyone but each other, and would be even more difficult in their own setting.

But that’s just me! All you Rapunzel x Cassandra shippers, have fun with that! :)

... seriously... Sophia and Elena animation is second rate 3D Animation. With a polygon and particle count well below feature Animation standards of the early 2000s let alone 2010... 2D Animation was the best hope of quality Animation for the price... Thankfully it's not flash animation... I was worried it was with the limited Teaser footage... But after the full trailer we so full Animation. People need to understand DTVA 3d Animation... Is Nothing like DFA.

This is very true, and I’m sincerely baffled by people who think that they could just render the series the same way they made the movie. Tangled is still the most expensive animated movie to date, and the fifth most expensive movie, period. There is no way they could make the series look that good at series cost.

As it is, I personally love the 2D animation they’re going with. Everyone is on model, if stylized, and they have their expressions, body language and mannerisms down pat. I think this is a beautiful way to have done it, and I couldn’t be more excited.

(Except, you know, when the junior novelization comes out on the 14th, so we finally have the plot and when they release the teaser on the 19th and we’ll have even more new animation and I’ll just die all over again.)

I dislike that, too. But my point is that the fandom needs to stay harmonious and not start fighting over things like shipping.

Oh... I already see the ship... People are free to ship anyway they want... Even if it breaks Canon or promotes incest and/or pedophila.... That's just the world we live in for better and for worst.

I see it too, but I don’t ship it and it’s definitely not canon, which is my point. But yes, people are free to ship whatever they want.

To bad this essay is flawed beyond belief because you are not an Animator nor understand the Animation process... You barely understand the basics of cartooning... I might go as far as art in general. Maybe you should read up more on Animation, you will learn some basics like Squish and squash... If you really studied Animation History... You will know where each Generation of Disney Animation gets its influence. Your conclusion an absolute insult and baseless.

I mean no, I’m obviously not an animator, but I do actually understand much of the animation process. I’ve read up on animation and character design a great deal because of my love for art and animated films, and I’ve been an extensive collector of animated films for most of my life to the point that I’ve probably spent several thousand dollars on this hobby.

Admittedly, I don’t really get to watch or enjoy animated film as much as I used to because of the direction my life has gone in, but I still retain the knowledge I learned from years of being self taught as well as several classes that I took when I still wanted to be an animator for a living. Hell, I at this very moment have several books on film design sitting within spitting distance of me here in England, thousands of miles away from the majority of my collection. I dragged those motherfuckers all the way across an ocean simply because, despite my limited free time, I still love that shit.

So no, I’m not pretending to be some kind of expert, but this is a hobby of mine and I do actually know enough to be able to recognise lazy character design work when I see it. You don’t have to be an architect to know that a McMansion is an ugly piece of shit.

Anyway if you want to actually write a real argument for why I’m wrong instead of throwing out jargon and hoping it passes as a convincing rebuttal, feel free.

Urgh... Are fanfics really just Fifty Shades of Tangled... I blame Twilight and that insufferable, idiot of a protagonist.... Whose only motivation... Only thought was which man should a shag.... Seriously and a woman wrote that trash.... I want to see a wide range of emotions from Flynn and Raps... I want to see the laugh, cry, get mad at each other, and sure show the love but let's keep it real.. Children can understand a complex and dynamic emotional state...

Oh, no! Don’t get me wrong! That is certainly not all that Tangled fanfics are! But people do become engrossed by the obvious passion shared between Rapunzel and Eugene, the supreme chemistry, and it goes places. Yes, I have been known to write Tangled smut, but I also write fics that are introspective drabbles about becoming someone you thought you left behind a long time ago. I write fics about how Rapunzel is dealing with life outside her tower, in a world where she was molded to be dependent upon someone, and what that means for her now. I write fics that poke fun at Eugene thinking he’s a suave SOB, when the world seems determined to make him the butt of a slapstick joke. And I’m not the only one, trust me. There’s plenty of perfectly clean fanfiction out there.
