he spent a day changing the sheets and covers on his bed to the ones sora used, his pillowcases, too. he falls asleep with wet lashes as he clings to a pillow that smells so sublimely of sora's scent that he almost pukes from how hard he's crying before finally blacking out.

do you think he gets defensive and develops compulsions around items sora touched, held, drank from? gotta use this cup because it was sora's favorite. gotta touch this one item before he leaves because it's good luck in helping him find sora (it's not). gotta smile in the same goofy way sora did because it keeps his memory alive while he wades through worlds trying to find him.

how much of riku is riku anymore and how much is riku holding onto a ghost

it's not even mid-june and we're at 30°C (86°F for the american crowd) already. i am trying to study and my brain is melting off, please someone turn off the sun

so i got a burst of creative energy out of fuckin nowhere earlier this morning and now the prologue to the fic is both done And posted. which is a Wild amount of productivity for me but hey i'm not complaining

so without further ado, here's the prologue to "as far as it takes"! enjoy :)

timmy briechalet got cast in wonka because God knew we'd go insane for him in dune otherwise. checks and balances baby girl

he would live for him, but instead it seems like he's going to die for him.

riku's lashes flutter like butterfly wings as pain lances through his body, worse than anything he's ever felt before as impossibly sharp teeth sink deep into his femoral artery, slicing through muscle and fat, sinew and tendon. he grits his teeth and tries not to buck off the body pinning him down.

he forces every muscle to relax, one by one, like untwisting bent wires until he's bloody and pliant and supine. his lashes flutter again as his vision starts to shudder and he can feel tears tracking down his cheeks as teeth retract and feather-light kisses are presses against the ghastly wound.

his head is swimming, and with each pitiful thump of his heart he can feel the warmth in his body draining.

it's euphoric, it's awful, it's beautiful.

with clumsy movements, he reaches out to touch the dark mass that's his best friend, fingers shaky as he traces the baby-fat laden cheek. sora was still so young. his rage manifested in such a way because he couldn't handle the nasty, rotten feelings when they actually surfaced.

teeth trace the outer edges of his finger, and honey-amber eyes look at him like one would scrutinize a bug under a glass.

riku could gladly be crushed under his gaze.

half delirious from being so so sleepy:

I think sora and riku should indulge in heavy petting with both of them digging their fingers deep into the scar tissue they've both made on each other's bodies and also they should kiss and have a trail of spit connecting them as they whine into the warm air between them

I think riku starts to develop insomnia after com. too many nightmares of something going wrong and sora, his sora, not returning right. it ebbs after kh2 and is virtually gone in 3d because being so intrinsically linked with sora and being able to help him even in sora's dreams calms some of the anxiety riku has developed over the past few years. but after kh3? full blown having to medicate in some way to get an hour or two of very fitful, nightmare filled 'sleep 'rest' or just straight up blacking out after days of not sleeping, energy drinks, and coffee

hey [taps mic] there's a trend of black out poetry meme going around the FFXIV fandom right now where it's an entirely blacked out poem with only "come back" as the only visible words and the blacked out lines are often a picture of a character being missed by another
