kh4 riku’s top might be a jacket but tbh I’m betting on shirt vest thing a la ddd and bbs because of the thin material

You know, I really do think that this voice reading HJO and David Gallagher did at the Kingdom Hearts D23 panel event proves that the issue with David's voice work in KH3 wasn't his skill or talent, but rather voice direction and dialogue.

In KH3, Riku just has a lot of extremely boring and dry exposition dumps that don't leave much room for dyanmic voice acting. KH3 was also the first time they tried doing a sort of simul-dubbing situation and there were a lot of bumps with that along the way (less polished translations, more awkward localization, etc.). When given dialogue with more room for dynamic reading and depth, David is able to do a fantastic line read.

The fact that both HJO and David Gallagher did such amazing, on-the-spot line reads really highlights their talents and skills as actors.

my only complaint is that riku’s jacket isn’t cropped but whatever I guess

sora and riku reuniting in quadratum and riku appearing in a flash of blue light to fight 3 darksides to save sora and his new friends paralleling sora saving riku in the RoD with the beam of light and the close up on sora’s reaction while riku’s in the same stance and framing as his sacrifice in kh3 possibly jogging sora’s memory of it
