“I’m still getting Vimara Village mapped out, but these are all the routes I’ve found that the Corps of Thirty and Matras take throughout Sumeru City and Port Ormos.” Something about a friend in need was one indeed, or other, but her typical strategy of getting close to the martial forces of any given country seemed to work in her favor exactly as it did in Inazuma with the Tenryo Commission. Shinobu’s simple strategy of offering lectures, seminars, and otherwise working alongside law enforcement gave her valuable intel. Not that she’d sell to exploit, but entirely for self-gain. Sharing guard routes with a friend prone to drunkenness was simply one of those more benign yields.
“Memorize those; next time you get drunk, avoid them and you won’t get in so much trouble.”

❝ you are in denial. ❞
Late nights, like drinking, had a curious habit of lowering guards and loosening lips to the point that secrets flowed freely. Lambad had closed the tavern a few hours ago, Shinobu left to prepare for the morning shift before closing. It was another night of Kaveh occupying one of the booths with a bottle of Arak, the milky, opaque liquor strong even while seated across from him. She had the late night, and Kaveh had his spirits, but they were honest. Honest and revealing, especially towards thoughts of the future.
That, and the apparent idea that she'd want to cease her restless lifestyle eventually.
"Can't say I agree. Sure, maybe some people go through phases, and that high wears off, but this has been consistent since I was young. Wanting to never really settle down doesn't sound like a phase to me."

“The person I work with is good at blueprints, but bringing everything together? Not so much.” The clacking of an abacus filled the silence between their banter, Shinobu poring over documents almost vandalized with mathematical revisions and corrections that defaced every page. Considering the fact that she was minoring in the Kshahrewar in mathematics, it was an odd way of connecting with her friend she and Itto had known for quite some time. Said blond occupying space within the apartment she rented from Lambad to avoid returning to Al-Haitham just yet.
Naturally, his attention was drifting.
“Have you thought of taking clients from Fontaine? You might find more fulfillment there since they don’t stifle the arts like they do here.”
for the sender to cover the receiver with a blanket.

Eyelids become heavy as sleepiness starts to take over her as the open book remains on the table. She has been working on a picture book for a while with pop-up pictures, a reminder of her past and a delightful story of the 13 Flamechasers - her home, her paradise, her beloveds who she wished not to forget and let this world, too, know of their crusade that she could only hope ended in victory or in bringing seeds of hope forth. Blue gaze hides behind closed eyelids as she feels her shoulders drops, her body fully relax as she gently moves the book away from her and leans forward to let her upper body lay on top the table on her arms, cheek pressed against her forearm. A content sigh leaves her as she can see scissors, colored paper, and more what came into creating this one small book.
It doesn’t take her long to finally start to slip into the world of dreams, beautiful dreams that she hoped to experience in reality as well. Her mind would continue to dance in colors, but the sleep’s gentle embrace would coax her to join it in its venture towards the beautiful unknown. Through this thin mist of slumber, she can hear someone approaching, her eyelashes tremble as she tries to stay awake long enough, but cannot. In this moment of semi-sleep, she thinks she sees Kevin approach with a cover. It makes her think of how it never happened before. Is it just a dream? If so, she is happy to see him again with that careful approach. Corners of her lips twitch, they part only for a second before she feels the blanket being carefully draped over her shoulders. It feels warm, it feels safe, it feels like home.
“ Mhmm....ank... ou, ” the uttering of gratitude is mushed from her seeping position and her slurred speech from her sleepiness. It’s been so long since she had fallen asleep like this. Sumeru was so warm, so welcoming, so precious. She didn’t want this warmth to go away and the heaviness of the blanket made her feel all the cozier. If not for her sitting position, she would’ve snuggled more into it. It smelled familiar, like Kaveh, and it felt like his touch, too, to her - careful, gentle, kind.
Tonight, once again, Elysia will have wonderful dreams.
“i was doing so well until you showed up.”
@arkitekt
Does he truly mean it? The words spoken in a whisper, pained yet exhausted. It feels like it was weighing on his chest for a long time. Elysia never wished for him to feel this way; this blessed life of his must be adored and it must bring him more happiness than sadness compared to the life before. It made her look away from him, a memory rises from her mind where in the previous world she asked Kevin if he would shoot her were it his only choice to save the masses. Now, too, she wonders if she should leave his side to et him exist without someone who knew this very soul from another world. A reincarnation can be such a cruel thing, the pinkette only wished to show her love and to protect those she cared about so deeply even if they will never appreciate it. Kaveh was important to her, he truly was.
It has never been her intention to make the life harder for him. If she needs to leave to have him become happy, she would. The fact that he exists here and now, it was enough for her.
“ Do you want me to leave, Kaveh? ” Even if it will hurt, she would. For him, she would. Al-Haitham may not even see her leave, she will disappear as if she never existed. For the ones she loved, she would do what they wish to make sure their lives would be better. “ It... was never my intention to... make your life harder for you. ”
A similar joke does not come out. He may be saying it out of exhaustion, out of stress, out of build up anger from other events. However, if she adds into his misfortune, she must step out. It is within her possibility to give him some breathing room. Elysia does not reach out to hold his hand to show she is present, she does not try to move closer to show she is here to listen, she does not move away either until she hears his response.
