I don't know why it's such a shock to me when a film decides to actually kill Ewan McGregor's character. He always gives off the vibes of a "endures but suffers" or a "changed forever" kind of character when he's not in a happy movie.

I think watching a series of films like Trainspo + Shallow Grave + Young Adam + Moulin Rouge! + Black Hawk Down in a short period of time shapes a kind of expectation for his character.

It's supposed to be sad and revelatory or something but like, why did I get insanely envious of Henry's position of being gently held and talked to by people who look like Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. The fact that it's also their characters' first time meeting doesn't help either because now there's a hint of romance that develops into a relationship in that scene and to me it bleeds into the Henry character a bit.

Henry was like, accepting something there about his self-destruction or whatever but my bisexual ass would get so distracted and would NOT pass out then and there.

Thinking on it again but like the Camerlengo's true plan as shown in the movie is soooooooo stupid. Like "too many holes and flaws" kind of stupid. All you get in the "reveal" are his motivations but it doesn't explain that his plan requires Robert Langdon to actually "solve" the riddles JUST in time not have the bomb defused but enough for it to be taken to the sky to explode for fucking everyone to see? Hello?

Like Stay (2005), it doesn't give you the proper clues in its setup to anticipate the twist.
