We took a 28 miler on the Armstrong Trail, from Buttermilk Falls to Cosmus, PA and back. The trail was well-groomed, very pleasant and secluded. We didn't see many other people. The Allegheny River has a different feel this far north of Pittsburgh, PA. We saw waterfalls, dams, remnants of an old village (Gray's Eddy), an 1859 iron furnace, lots of birds, beaver sign, unique flora, fungi, birds, insects, and more. We marveled at the quiet, and enjoyed long stretches of woods and river. Campgrounds and boat ramps support the recreational use of the river. We heard some boats and a train in the distance, but there were long periods of silence. It was good to get away from the noise of traffic and expressways. There are no towns or villages along this section, we rode through Cosmus without even realizing it. The Armstrong Trail is a treasure. We plan to ride further north next time. An overnighter or multi-day trip is in the works. 🚲 #armstrongtrail #bicyclelove #naturelover #bicycletouring #naturephotography #frascarelliphotography #frascarelligallery #surroundedbymarvels https://www.instagram.com/p/CAmk-nypq6_/?igshid=qxeep85i9cf4
