thinking about 2016-2018 maxiel from the perspective of aro!daniel and him feeling guilty bc he can tell max obviously has a crush on him and he just can't reciprocate that but still wants to have sex with him. like his lack of romantic attraction on top of the age gap just making daniel feel like he's taking advantage of max and his feelings.

i always felt his love for heidi is very deep but also friendship-like? Tbh like it is a bit weird to see how publicly affectionate heidi is with her friends like zack yet pulls back for daniel. I always imagined they have a similar vibe and are a great company to each other but I see a bit of lack of commitment from both ends, not just daniel. So I dont think aro daniel is a stretch at all. seeing how they dont spend holidays together after allegedly 4-6 years but then hearing how sweet he is to her on the phone. This man def loves her a lot just idk if its in the wife family and kids way.

yeah, like it would not surprise me if it was the case (tho I will say I don't think this means daniel would actually know about the possibility of being aro and label himself that way, just bc of the environment he's been in, would be nice if he did tho). but for the sake of this hc, I def think we can imagine they have an arrangement that works for them despite not being necessarily the traditional picture of romantic relationships and it makes sense. like I do think they care about each other a lot, they just have their way of expressing it and even if they might hang out more than we know, I would assume it's still in a very them way lol

for the sake of rpf also, it would be fun to dig into how this plays into how daniel's relationships with some of his male friends play out as well. like with a lack of romantic attachment but maybe still dipping into sexual territory.

YESSS :D I saw someone saying his relationship w heidi is weird again and I was thinking about it like what if he was aro?? bc he obviously loves a lot and has a big heart and a huge appreciation for people in his life but he doesn't seem that keen on doing some of the usual romantic relationship stuff people would expect from him by this point (not saying anyone who doesn't want to get married, etc. has to be aro ofc but it's just nice to think about in this context bc i think it is a queer identity that deserves more visibility anyway). he also puts an emphasis on platonic relationships too, like he spends a lot of quality time with his friends and does obviously desire love and affection but not in a specifically romantic way.

I've been thinking a lot about Aro Daniel, and I think Daniel would get really turned on by his friends being so thoughtful and sweet with him, like, "Oh, he paid enough attention to me to know I like that."

Conor is the perfect example, so kind, tender, and respectful. Aro Daniel was probably drooling and wanting more attention of all kinds.

ohh yeah, for sure!! he's definitely a quality time and physical affection guy to me! he looooves when his friends give him hugs and want to spend time with him just doing random activities, from padel to dirtbiking to hiking to drinking together etc.

and yeahh, with conor he definitely also loved that he trusted him with his puppy, onix, letting him walk him and get acquainted with him slowly enough, knowing how much conor loves the doggo.

late at night after the 500, they've definitely snuggled up together and had some fun. maybe daniel stayed another day or two more than he planned initially, just to get some more time to enjoy each other properly, all casual and cozy and sweet.

Daniel watching romantic movies as a way to interact with romance is so true <3 He'd also like reading cliché romance books, thinking it's so cute, but at the same time, so strange.

yeahhh, I mentioned movies and not books bc these guys tend to not read much 💀 which daniel did confirm too lol but for sure, the rare book aro!daniel may read could def be a romance for the sake of understanding and exploring it from a safe distance let's say. maybe he also likes taking pics of ppl on dates and just things ppl find romantic as his equivalent of your writing fics about romantic relationships :D

i think aro!daniel would've started to realize he doesn't exactly feel the same about romance and dating when his friends started getting proper girlfriends in highschool. it would be confusing bc he surely thought girls were hot and he felt attracted to them sexually but he would find himself uninterested in the romantic aspects like going on dates and spending alone time for the sake of romance whenever he would try. he'd much prefer hanging out as a group or if just him and another person he'd like not making it a big deal and just spending time like normal. i think he'd struggle labeling this for a long time so even when he eventually makes it to f1, when people would joke about him and his teammates/friends fucking (like with him and max for example) he would have no issue with it but when they'd start joking about them dating that's when he'd feel weird about it. he definitely figures he's into guys too in between these points, and that he definitely enjoys sex with men as well, and he thinks maybe he's just gay for a bit to justify the lack of romantic attraction he experienced with girls but he finds he doesn't feel keen on actually dating guys either not long after.

he also does like romance movies but mostly cannot picture himself in those same scenarios in a way that he actually enjoys. but he likes the warmth and the intimacy of them regardless as its a way for him to interact with romance without having to actually be involved.

i don't want to be arophobic but aro daniel makes me sad 🫣 i just feel like someone as affectionate as daniel would struggle emotionally without a long term partner. like if you said aro lewis or even aro yuki I'd be totally on board

(firstly, a disclaimer that obviously this is a hc, its not real, don't yell at me about that) but i disagree! I don't think it's sad at all unless you're looking at it as if romantic attraction is a must to form deep connections with people or have some form of companion, and that isn't the case i believe! aro!daniel initially came from the fact ppl joke about him being a commitmentphobe and how his relationship tends to look a little different or 'weird' compared to some others that are more traditional, at least publicly (like we see so many of his friends getting married and having kids and he's not, not that he has to anyway but for the sake of the hc) and i thought it's fun to think about him as a very caring affectionate person but with no desire to actually date anyone in the typical sense. but that doesn't mean he can't love his friends and have intimate relationships with them while lacking the explicitly romantic aspect. aromanticism is also a spectrum so there can be cases where you can still want to be with someone if you have a deep enough connection, while still not fully experiencing romantic attraction. and so daniel can definitely still get plenty of affection from his friends/partners and have as many people around to provide it as he needs, whether platonic or sexual or whatever he may want at that particular moment.

(also im sorry anon but im a very daniel centric blog so i don't really care to think about hcs for most other ppl unless daniel is somehow involved and esp other f1 drivers don't exactly compel me at all atm lol)
