Headcanon: Donato was pretty openly aromantic around the orphanage, so Amon grew up knowing that it was possible to never experience romantic attraction. Amon knew he was aro ever since he was a child, since the other orphanage kids would get crushes but he never did.

After he found out Donato was a ghoul, Amon may have convinced himself that he hated him, but Amon was always grateful that he knew of aromanticism from such an early age
