Would you be up for talking a bit more about your aro!Scott headcanon? I get so excited when I see someone with aro and/or ace headcanons in teen wolf!

i have a PLETHORA of aspec TW headcanons!!!!!

my headcanon for Scott is the flavor of aro that just doesn't really make any distinction between different kinds of love. if you love a person, then you love a person, and what does romance even mean anyway?? romance as a concept separate from other kinds of affection just doesn't compute. he likes doing things that society deems romantic with people he cares about, but he would be just as happy buying flowers for Stiles or his mom as he would buying flowers for Allison or Kira, ya know? same warm fuzzy feelings, whatever they are.

it probably takes a long time for him to realize all this and dissect out the amatonormative societal influence that makes him think his feelings for his girlfriends are different from his feelings for, ya know, everyone else. he likes being in relationships with people and doing romantic things and he's ok with defining his relationships however his partner feels most comfortable. i feel like he'd lean towards polyamory and/or relationship anarchy. he definitely kisses his friends on the mouth out of sheer affection. he has a lot of that in him because he is full of undifferentiated love for many people.

when i go in for arospec Scott, it’s the brand of aromanticism where he just genuinely can’t tell the difference between romantic and platonic attraction. love is love? how is he supposed to love some people differently than other people?? if he loves someone, then he loves them, and that’s that.

i'd love to hear your arospec headcanons about scott!

What arospec identities do they have? (Can be as specific or vague as desired)

after much waffling and debate, Scott has finally settled on nebularomantic (or, in less polite company, WTFromantic)

How proud of being arospec are they?

he wasn’t sure about it at first, whether he qualified or if it was something to be worried about or something to celebrate, but he’s embraced it now and he thinks it’s pretty awesome!

Do they prioritize their arospec identity over any others?

much the same way Scott doesn’t see the sense in differentiating between different kinds of love, he doesn’t see the sense of ranking pieces of himself. everything comes together to make up who he is. no one facet of his identity is more or less important than another.

Are they out? If so, how did they come out, and to whom?

he admitted it to Stiles before he actually had a term for it. he didn’t have it all straight in his head yet, how he felt about everything, and it sort of accidentally came off like he was hitting on Stiles. there was some confusion before he got his point across and that point was: he loved everyone. his friends and his romantic partners both, he couldn’t really make any differentiation between them, and did that mean that he was in love with all his friends or that he was never in love with his any of datemates??

unsurprisingly, it kicked Stiles into a research spiral. it took him a few days, but he came back with a list of arospec testimonials and a few terms. WTFromantic gave them both a good laugh, and still does tbh, but Scott decided he especially liked the sound of nebularomantic. the whole concept of romance is nebulous, isn’t it? why shouldn’t he be nebulous too?

How do they feel about romance? Romance-favorable? Romance-neutral? Romance-repulsed? Or does it fluctuate?

he loves romance! he loves taking part in romantic scenarios and making romantic gestures. he just doesn’t particularly see the need to restrict those gestures to one exclusive partner. Stiles likes flowers as much as Kira does and Scott will happily bring flowers to both of them!

Have they ever experienced arophobia? If so, how?

Scott is very conscious of just how often friendship gets devalued or looked down upon. the phrase “just friends” always hits him in the gut. it baffles and upsets him how anyone could assume that Kira means more to him than Stiles does just because she’s his girlfriend. the fact that some people think that his best friend meaning so much to him somehow makes him a bad boyfriend or proves that he doesn’t love Kira enough is even more infuriating.

not to mention how many people insist he’s not really aromantic at all. he doesn’t fit any of the stereotypes (cold, distant, emotionless, promiscuous, etc) and apparently a person so openly affectionate and so interested in romance can’t possibly be aro.

Scott responds to all of that with a resounding fuck you (if Stiles doesn’t beat him to it).

How do they show their arospec pride?

Scott has all the pride pins!! his messenger bag is covered in them and they’re starting to spill over onto his jean jacket. his bike was already green, conveniently, and Scott may have shelled out some cash to make the paint job even more on point (the black, white, and grey racing stripes are cool, okay? everybody agrees. also the helmet matches).

Do they actively try to combat amatonormativity in their daily lives or elsewhere? If so, how?

Scott is dedicated to turning people’s expectations on their heads. he’s sort of a subversion all on his own, just by nature, and he greatly enjoys watching people get hella confused when he comes out to them. he likes to think it gets his foot in the door where disproving arophobes’ preconceptions is concerned.

Was it easy for them to label themselves arospec, or was there a long period of questioning? How many labels did they have to try before landing on the one they use now?

he questioned off and on for a few years. it wasn’t hugely distressing, is the thing, and it didn’t actually get in the way of his romantic relationships. so it wasn’t a pressing issue that he felt the need to resolve or anything.

he did consider for a while that he might be polyamorous, though. he hasn’t really held onto that label since adopting nebularomantic, but he wouldn’t be at all opposed to practicing polyamory if his partner was so inclined. romantic in nature or not, he’s got more than enough love to go around.

Would they be interested in a QPR? Why or why not?

Scott has considered putting the qpr label on his relationship with Stiles. he hasn’t broached the subject just yet, but he’s every bit as committed to Stiles as he is to Kira or was to Allison. he knows he’s going to love Stiles forever, and when he pictures the rest of his life, Stiles is always there. of course, that’s gonna be true regardless of what Stiles wants to call it, so Scott doesn’t necessarily need to put a label on what they have.
