So @badgertablet replied to me on Twitter: have u considered qpp red and pap? and here’s a scenario I’ve thought of now:

It’s Movie Night in Underswap. Everyone is there, and it’s Stretch turn to choose movie. And, both because he likes them and to annoy Certain Skeletons, he choses a romcom. One of those weird ones (cute, but weird) like the Christmas one I watched where the Love Interest seemed like an asshole but turned out to be sweet and there was a lot of illogical drama with someone else’s wedding and in the end they just fuckin got married after knowing each other for like... a week what the fuck. And here I was, expecting a cute lesbian love story when I read the summary.

So everyone settles down, and initially, Red sits on the floor by Slim and Sans - far away from his brother and Stretch’s PDA. He loves that his brother is happy but it gets too much (then again it ain’t like he’s been very respectful with his sexuality before, he’s gonna give Edge that). Papyrus is in the couch together with Razz and Blue. And the movie starts and basically, they’re both Confused. So Papyrus is constantly asking the Berries what’s happening why did she do that? Why did he? What is even...?

And a while into the movie, on the other side of the couch set, Red’s complaining starts getting loud. He’s frustrated with their actions and with their behaviour and the plot doesn’t make any goddamn sense and are they in love now what the fuck? 

So eventually Razz just gets fed up with them both and “Papyrus go join Red and see if you can figure out this together.”

So they end up sitting alone together in the smaller couch and trying to figure out what’s happening and why it’s happening. And...

“I don’ understand this shit wha’s even tha’ great ‘bout love? Never felt it and ‘m doing great.” Red’s frustration is evident as he watches them kiss, and the love interest suddenly goes down on one knee. He gestures angrily.

Papyrus stares at him, making him frown, before suddenly beaming. He leans forward, grabbing Red’s hands. “You haven’t either?! I was starting to wonder if I’m just weird! I’ve tried to be in love but it doesn’t work!”

Slowly, as he processes, a grin spreads over Red’s face. There’s a hint of relief in his eyes. “Oh ‘s not just me. Good ta know. Ey, Creampuff, think we’ve got some stuff ta talk ‘bout, eh?”

“Yes, I think so!”

And yeah. The were friends before, though not particularly close - though they did feel quite protective over each other, with them both being so similar and yet different from their brothers - but they spend the rest of the night bonding over the experience of really just. Not knowing what the deal is with love and thinking it might just be them who are weirdos. 

Then they go out on a coffee “date” and finds that they really enjoy each other’s company and things just happen from there
