I've said I wanna see more platonic Papyrus and Mettaton stuff and this post kinda died when I posted it because I think it got misinterpreted so I'm trying again... Papyrus' aroace awakening and post-pacifist Mettaton being a good friend:

Papyrus, though he's figured out he's aro, gets it into his head that he has to "don't knock it till you tried it" sex and the only friend of his that'd be willing to help him test that theory is Mettaton. Suffice to say it... doesn't get very far, and Papyrus feels guilty at first but it leads to a very nice conversation about the nature of life, attraction and relationships before they go off to spend the rest of the evening doing Silly Guy Shit like throwing magic bombs in the lake. They agree to Never Speak Of This Again but actually end up better friends because of it and Papyrus a lot more secure in his ace-ness.

I get WHY people get touchy about aroace Papyrus, but at the same time, I'm both ND (the psych that diagnosed me straight up said I was one of the most severe cases of ADHD he's ever seen, which sure feels like an accomplishment haha) and I'm aro + gray-ace myself. Is it wrong to project my experiences on a character that's growing on me and I see a little of myself in? I don't know about that. And I don't love the "aroace=infantilization" undertones of some of discussions I saw about it either.

(Also, Alphys is ND coded as fuck and she's DEFINITELY not aro or ace)

I just realised that my swap AU where Papyrus and Sans are royal scientists and Toriel is the captain of the guard perfectly sets up Soriel if the dynamic is similar to Alphyne.
