AU where Lily is the one head over heels for Severus (whether as a teen or as a teacher) and he’s either oblivious or just satisfied with friendship or doesn’t want any particular contact? The bastard is impossible to live with but Lily somehow melts at his sight, no matter how much she tries to make herself stop loving him. She starts to think she’s got a problem is she can get off his "meanness". And Severus just... either realizes he doesn’t hold any flame for Lily anymore (he just hung on the idea of her but now he’s losing that delusion), or doesn’t realize Lily loves him this way since he doesn’t himself, either way he’d prefer to be alone on the romantic/sexual aspects of his life.
