I really like thinking of the relationships between characters and their “others” (Somebodies and Nobodies, Ventus and Vanitas, etc) and how queer identities would be a way for them to bond, either through their similarities or differences

(The obvious one being how Xion is definitely not cis and she talks about her gender experiences with Sora or Roxas. She was meant to be a copy of them but she’s not she’s Xion and maybe they also start realizing they may not be cis. Both their similarities with their genders and their differences are celebrated)

But adding aromanticism into the mix has the potential for some great relationship ideas

both Ven and Van are aro and that shared identity helps them actually bond with each other and build a better relationship. but they’re still not exactly the same and those differences are still important. I like having Ven be romance-replused and Vanitas romance-favorable as a way to shift how fandom normally portrays them, especially Vanitas. He’s the one associated with negative emotions and Unversed and darkness so he’d be the one who’s romance-repulsed right? But romance negativity and romance repulsion aren’t the same thing and it’s Ven the “light half” who’s the one uncomfortable with romantic love

Or how about this: having multiple hearts inside his influences Sora’s emotions. But what if he’s aro and someone in his heart hotel isn’t? How does he cope with suddenly feeling attraction and emotions he used to not feel? Does he reexamine his orientation and decide on a new label? Or is he able to recognize these feelings aren’t his and hold on to his aromanticism? How would this impact his desire to free the other hearts? maybe bringing Roxas back isn’t just about how him being his own person and maybe it’s more selfishness on Sora’s part
