harry should really have started to suspect something when everyone around him started asking him when he and cho were gonna date
“you keep smiling awkwardly everytime you see her, just admit you have a crush!” he thought he was only smiling because she sounded cool and loved quidditch as much as him, but maybe those people were right
he was in the dark for a long time, but he was just too busy with the war to think about his sexuality or romantic orientation
so what if he feels strangely repulsed when he sees ron and lavender together? surely everyone feels that way, it’s not weird
things change when he starts dating ginny though
one day, when she’s feeling romantic for once, she tells him how she feels butterflies in her stomach when she looks at him, and keeps describing her feelings
harry starts to slightly panic
that’s not at all how he felt.
he runs to his dorm and starts thinking. was he wrong about his feelings for ginny? but if he wasn’t, why does he feel differently for her than for hermione? but how exactly?
his thoughts keep spiraling down and he has no answers
ginny eventually decides to kick down his door and have a long hard chat with him
she smiles when he explains, to his surprise
“I believe both Charlie and Luna might have some things to explain to you”
they talk a lot, and by the end his feelings are just a tiny bit clearer
ginny doesn’t seem to take it too badly. she asks if he wants them to stay together. he says he wants to try
it’s a tough thing to navigate boundaries and feelings when your own heart doesn’t always seem to make sense, but they stick together
(and maybe, many years later, harry hears of queer platonic relationships and feels like things are a bit more clear again)
