After realising I was queer at fifteen I came out shortly after and never was really bothered by it or felt like I had to adjust my self image all that much. If anything it helped me understand myself a lot more (because I'd had crushes on girls all my life, I just hadn't recognised them as such).

However, despite being allosexual and alloromantic, of all the coming out scenes we've seen in Heartstopper, and maybe even just of all the coming out scenes that I've ever seen on TV full stop, I related most to Isaac's. Because him saying that being aroace changes everything he thought he knew about himself, his life and his future - boy is that relatable as someone who realised I'm a trans man in my thirties. I love being a trans guy, but the mental adjustment of realising your identity is totally different to what you expected is a lot and I don't think I've ever seen or heard that aspect of coming out, whether its sexuality or gender identity, ever really being talked about.

question! now that we know that heartstopper has been renewed for 2 more seasons and we'll have (MORE) aroace representation, i've been wondering, on tua, five doesn't show any sex attraction feelings, on one or another occasion even repulse (i blame klaus ha!). but he did show romantic feelings towards dolores.. at least i took it that way? to your knowledge, is five asexual? is he aromantic asexual and i read their (five and dolores) "connection" wrong? that said i'm beyond excited for isaac!!

Oh for sure, I absolutely read Five as ace!! Possibly even aroace, because I dont think his relationship with Dolores is ever specified to be romantic? A lot of people read it as such, but I always saw them as platonic life companions. He desperately needed someone, and she was that Someone for several decades, but whether it was romantic or platonic is never really clarified either way. He loves her, absolutely, but I kinda see it as a platonic-end-of-the-world-life-partners kind of love, not a romantic one.

But yeah, I for 100% sure read him as ace, deadset. I dont think its been clarified as canon, but also it seems pretty clear, textually, to me.

And ace isaac is very exciting news indeed!! Can't wait to see it!!!!!
