Honestly now that I think about it for 03 I dont even see raph as straight I got gay vibes from him but that’s just me projecting as a gay dude myself. If you don’t mind my asking what did you mean by seeing characters who feel deeply as aroace rep.

What are turtles if not to project onto, tbh

I like to see characters who feel deeply as aro, ace, or both because often a lot of the rep I see is very stereotype based. Like the characters who are out of touch with their feelings or emotionally repressed are more likely to be portrayed as not feeling attraction. For example, if a story is tagged with “asexual Donatello” I’m less likely to read it. Kinda reminds me too much of growing up with (well-meaning) friends who thought they knew more about my feelings than I did. With my own experience and other ace spectrum friends, I just think it would be neat if we had more characters who are portrayed as having a rich and healthy inner emotional life.

So that’s the personal reasons, but about Raph. He’s got so much social intelligence and really wears his heart on his sleeve. The show focuses a lot on his anger, but I think all his emotions stay pretty near the surface. He has a lot of intelligence both about his own emotions and about other people’s. And so what if we took that intelligence, and let him enrich his life in a hundred meaningful ways that don’t involve a partner? I feel like there’s a lot of potential there

Anyway I am not the expert either on Raph or the collective aroace experience (I am so painfully hopelessly alloromantic), but that’s a bit of why I do the things I do

Personally, I headcanon Raph as aroace. Not sure why, just vibes I guess? Once the thought occurred to me I quickly became attached to it. Like he feels so much so deeply. As an ace spectrum lesbian, I think I like the idea of emotional characters being aroace representation.

If I’m reading, though, the ship I can most easily see is probably Mona Lisa. I can see them as besties ship or not
