f/o who hasn't been in a relationship before, and is unsure of basically everything. they look online at good date spots, but nothing feels right. they look up when the best time to confess is, but whenever it arises, a deep unease settles in their chest.

you both know this doesn't work. you force a romantic tension because this is what you and your f/o are supposed to do, right?
you go on dates, force yourselves to hold hands, to whisper 'i love you' in the middle of the night. you force yourselves past the unease that slowly settles and builds up in your hearts.
wouldn't it be nicer if the two of you just existed, and nothing else? no special occasions need to be had, no special words need to be said, no special feelings need to be felt.
you don't have to do this because you think it's what needs to be done. you can just be.
there is nothing preventing you from making your relationship more aromantic. you and your f/o should embrace being aromantic.
im so glad 'love' is fake and invented for fiction, and that it does not apply to me and my f/o at all ^-^
your f/o doesnt know the right words to fluster you. a compliment is nice, but genuine efforts to sweep you off your feet always fail. it just never feels right. what it does do, is make the both of you giggle at another attempt to mimick alloromantism, like it will ever work at all.
the day you and your f/o met wasn't special for either of you. there was no love-at-first-sight, there was no big emotional realization knowing that THIS was the one.
and now, there still isn't. the idea that this might be gone someday, that each of you are still your own person, its comforting. it makes the current time easier to appreciate.
