do you have some more opinions on the bleach ending? i just have a hard time understanding why some people are making such a fuss over it. it's not comparable to the naruto ending and i honestly would find it almost offensive considering how truly awful the naruto one was. but i've seen people, particularly one i have in mind, raise a storm over it. i tried to get behind it (cause this person is a very good writer) but beyond the surface it became so truly weird that i peaced out of it.
like why write a fix-it fic for it? the bleach canon may be inconsistent or the plot may be strange towards the end, but that was never bleach's focus anyway. and the ending, divorced from the rushed conclusion is positive, expands on character's lives and makes you hopeful for the future. i guess i shouldn't have read it, but her fic started out really good and then became some eldritch horror over a longer time period. i just don't get it ._. sorry for venting in your inbox hope you dont mind.
I don’t mind, but please don’t consider me an expert/authority on the Bleach ending because I never actually finished reading Bleach. I stopped around the attack on the fake Karakura town.
However, even with my limited knowledge I do agree it’s not comparable to the Naruto ending-- people are mad that Ichigo settled down and had kids when he didn’t even want to be a Shinigami in the first place and it’s not like he had some deep political system to fix anyways. He also spent a lot of time chasing after Orohime so you can’t compare Ichihime to NH, either.
As for the fic, idk man, You can’t please everyone I guess. Although that does remind me of one Naruto fix-it fic which started out promising and also devolved into something just really, really gross and OOC.
The only thing I can say is, at least they’re writing something that makes them happy as opposed to threatening the author, hopefully. We’ve really reached an era where fan entitlement to how a media finishes its story is at an all time high.
I wanted to clear something up because I have trouble understanding the first paragraph of your response. Was it responding to what I said or did you want to clear that up for yourself? I was referring to how Sasuke is not seeking out that kind of relationship in canon, one possible explanation being his trauma. I think you say if he came to that point he'd still have interpersonal issues, which I didn't imply he wouldn't, so I'm confused.
If Sasuke didn't have trouble opening up enough to seek out relationships, how would those relationships look like?
This is your original sentence, and it kind of sounds like “if Sasuke wasn’t traumatized and could act normal, who would he go for”, which kind of defeats the purpose of a discussion of the kind of girl Sasuke would eventually be drawn to/seek out considering the trauma he’s been through.
Sasuke is not seeking out that kind of relationship in canon, one possible explanation being his trauma.
See, and this is... well, this can’t really work either, because Sasuke has already been “claimed” by Sakura. There’s nothing to be discussed in terms of his canon relationship because Sakura has already harassed and stalked him into one. And I’m not talking in terms of Sasuke actively looking, it’s about the kind of women he would inevitably be attracted to-- again, it’s not about Sasuke purposely looking for a woman, this kind of attraction subconscious. Of course he’s not actively seeking, but he would still inevitably end up having feelings for a woman like this.
My discussion is an explanation of the type of women Sasuke would actually be drawn to or eventually seek out had no one chased him, which would be someone who emulates the role his mother played for him and the safety and security she provided. You can’t really provide the term of ignoring his trauma/interpersonal issues because they absolutely must be taken into consideration.
It’s not impossible for Sasuke to eventually seek out a relationship or actually have feelings for someone within the context of canon. Difficult? Taking a very long time? Yes, absolutely, because Sasuke’s not actively seeking, it is not his immediate priority, it’s all about the kind of woman he would slowly and naturally end up having feelings for.
yeah, this is interesting to think about. If Sasuke didn't have trouble opening up enough to seek out relationships, how would those relationships look like? I think it's important to keep in mind how his parents relationship would be an obvious influence on his behaviour. It's possible that he would even be attracted to women prone to emulate a similar role in his life as Mikoto, as you say. I think Sasuke is attracted to the safety and stability his parents had.
Well, you have to still consider that Sasuke would still have trouble opening up. But when he reached the point he found interest in someone, completely on his own (as opposed to being chased and harassed by a girl), it’s highly likely that the girl will emulate the role his mother had shortly before he lost her. This isn’t to say she’ll look like Mikoto (though sometimes looks play into it when dealing with this particular sort of psychology), but Sasuke subconsciously seeks a partner who fills the role his Mother did. His parents, from all the material we’ve been given in the series, and from the novels, didn’t have any marital issues. Even regarding the stress the clan was facing, they were both on the same page (much to Itachi’s disappointment, as he had expected Mikoto to side against Fugaku.) We never saw any fights and both were happy in the role they each filled as husband and wife. Of course, there will be people who will misconstrue this and say Sasuke is looking for a house wife who cooks and cleans for him, given that this was Mikoto’s role for him as a Mother, and this is not at all what I’m discussing. It’s about the feeling of safety and security that his Mother provided. A person he could come to with his worries when his Father and big brother were unavailable. Someone who would listen to him and assure him. Someone who he feels comfortable seeking out, as opposed to the partner chasing him, or demanding information/certain behaviors out of him, but who would have a healthy level of give, IE, the ability to scold him when he does do something actually out of line. Occasionally taking chores away from him is perfectly alright, but given Sasuke learned to perform them on his own, they’d strike a natural balance of chores. Some nights he’d cook the meal, some nights he’d come to the meal being ready. And all of this is solely speculation being that he lost his mother, at a critical time he was depending more on her as opposed to his Father and Brother. He was closer to her than Itachi was (who was almost a stranger to her at that point). The type of partner/woman/what have you that Sasuke would seek out if his parents were both alive and the massacre completely avoided is an entirely different topic (this section of the response isn’t aimed at you just me overthinking it lol.)
and now i cried because you were nice to me. i'm being annoyingly delicate.
<3 it’s ok, it’s really ok. i might be bitter as fuck about sasuke but i’m not an awful person.
Thanks for the tag but it also scared me. It .. surprised me that you acted so familiar. (I'm generally uncomfortable with the wild vastness of the internet.) Also my interest in Naruto or Sasuke is not as fresh anymore, even though I'm still reblogging things painting a picture I agree with or prefer.
Well, you don’t have to advocate for Sasuke, I’m not at all obligating you, don’t worry. You were just one of the only other people I knew that liked Sasuke and didn’t like SNS. Almost every other Sasuke...fan, that’s anti-ending is an SNS shipper.
Can you recommend pro-sasuke blogs like yours? X
Like mine, meaning anti SNS, which reduces the blogs I know to two.
@entireuchihaclan and @aromantic-sasuke whom...I can’t tag but I know you’re there, bby.
what's the context to the 'people who wanna fuck itachi' post? that would interest me if you could elaborate. like, isn't it totally fine if someone is attracted to a character?
It’s the way it’s expressed, most of the time. Attraction in general, without any details is fine, he’s conventionally attractive and I cannot expect most people to not be attracted to him. I will admit he’s pretty.
It’s an issue with how many posts I see waning about how badly they want to fuck him, suck his dick, “let him dom them”, etc. You get past the point of attraction and get to dehumanization-- I doubt the same response would be given to someone who goes on and on about how badly they want to titty fuck Hinata or plow Sakura into the mattress.
I’ve literally seen a post from one such person who said they were willing to eat Itachi’s feces and drink his dirty bath water. Absolutely glorifying him, and this is the kind of thing Itachi doesn’t like. Being held on this pedestal, being referred to as perfect, being fawned over.
I detest when he’s sexually objectified, and the issue is often treated with less importance because male characters don’t get that kind of defense while female characters usually do.
