During Friday’s storm we kept getting splashed by the wakes of cars passing us on the 134 Freeway.
We took this photo of Downtown LA on the morning of Friday, December 12. The storm, brought by the weather system known as the "Pineapple Express," dropped up to 2.74 inches of rain per hour, causing power outages, flooding, mudslides, and incredibly, a small tornado in South Los Angeles.
Gold Line train crossing Pasadena Avenue in Pasadena. The line spans 13.7 miles linking Union Station in downtown Los Angeles and Sierra Madre Villa in East Pasadena via Chinatown, Highland Park, South Pasadena and Pasadena. Each rail car costs $2.36 million and seats 76 passengers.
We discovered Ruben Soto’s mural “Eyes” while driving on Glendale Boulevard under the Sunset Boulevard overpass in Echo Park. The "eyes" in this photo belong to the artist himself. There are nine other portraits in the mural, including his daughter Storm Soto, whose portrait faces her father's from across the tunnel. The latest portrait, a memorial to the artist's friend Sage Stallone who passed away in 2012, is positioned across from a portrait of his father, actor Sylvester Stallone. Other portraits in the mural include radio and television icon Dick Clark and muralist Kent Twitchell.
We saw this charming, colorful home in Sherman Oaks. Note the painting of the Virgen de Guadalupe and burro statue in the rustic garden.
We saw the "Neuter Cruiser" on the 405 Freeway. In spite of the funny name, the company does serious work. NKLA, which stands for No Kill Los Angeles, provides spay/neuter services so fewer animals go into shelters and more are adopted.
