Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?
Yes - moreso on wisdom rather than ambition, but that’s because he can only respect the conviction of those who wish to struggle and rise above their circumstances. He understands the struggle so he finds those who persist in defying the status quo to be admirable individuals. He’s a bit jealous of them even, because it’s not something he can do so out in the open.
He also enjoys analytical discussions, even in debate against people who may be against his principles. After all, advancement cannot occur without both thesis and antithesis. Due to living in an environment where people seem to just agree without a second thought, Goro prefers talking with people who would speak their mind or argue against him.
As long as they do so with respect and critical thinking, of course.

This would depend on the nature of the criticism! If it’s something about his upbringing or who he is, it would be something he would take with a smile. Perhaps even with a biting remark, depending if they were being rude or not. However, that is far from what he actually thinks - he always holds himself to the lowest esteem, and that is just mere confirmation that he truly is an awful human being.
This is not always the case though - criticisms to his personality itself, if done in a certain manner, are things he is more welcome to. If this comes from an individual whom he wishes to meet their approval of, it would definitely be something he would take into note. Whether it only affects how he behaves around that person or if it counts as a step for actual character development would be another story.
Finally, if someone criticizes his skills or his talents…Well. Goro is a sore loser with a competitive spirit. He would stop at nothing and would never give up until he can prove you wrong and utterly crush that weakness aside.
