Out to the Fields | FSL Event

“Priscilla, I’m going out.”
An idle statement, yet it carried so much weight. It meant more. He knew she knew that it meant more. They’d gotten their announcement. They’d seen what those voices had to show them. Daud strapped his wristbow to his arm and flexed his fingers, then made sure his sword was clean before sheathing it.
So, it was going to be war. He knew, all along. There was only one way these things ever ended. Fighting, and blood. So much blood. He’d hoped…he’d hoped to put it all behind him. Yet here he was, getting ready to step out once again, to spill it once more. He wondered if it would make a difference for him.
No time for that kind of thought. His eyes were focused now, undeterred. This wasn’t some job for petty coin. He wasn’t about to slaughter some noble at their dinner table. No. This was a fight for something else entirely.
Hope…?
“…You coming with me?”
She had started to rise before he had even finished speaking, her thought process was simple; if he was leaving then she would accompany him. Despite what he said and how she felt about their roles, she would not knowingly let harm befall him. That didn’t even speak for the current climate in the city...
So, for him to even ask if she would be joining him; that caused her to hesitate.
“Daud...” By not saying where he had already told her enough. The crossbreed closed her eyes briefly and exhaled lightly. “You know it would be irresponsible of us both if you were to approach any hostilities alone.”
“Of course I will be accompanying you.”
The thought of being deployed as a weapon still felt unpleasant, but she was no stranger to taking lives to protect others, with what was apparently at stake... She knew she should not hesitate.
“After all, you must be at least somewhat curious of what I am capable of.”
