[288] Arrghus (The Legend of Zelda Series)
That one boss in aLttP with too many 'r's in its name
Positive aspects: Space, Mind, Hope, Breath, Life, Light Negative aspects: Time, Heart, Rage, Blood, Doom, Void
My friend Arrghus has some really neat Aspect Wheel analysis that expands on the idea of this a lot!
Re: 188666579645/later-in-the-story-touching-an-incomplete-sprite this matter is settled extremely late in the comic (like, ridiculously late) with an aside explanation that brief, incidental contact like a high-five doesn't cause fusion.
Realized you might want a page number on that sprite fusion thing, it’s on page 7874.
The part to which you refer:
JASPROSESPRITE^2: Besides, she has only been prototyped once.JASPROSESPRITE^2: I believe unprototyped or once-prototyped kernels can weather brief or incidental contact, the same way you can investigate the flame of a candle without burning your nose as long as you are quick enough.JASPROSESPRITE^2: But the sort of contact we are talking about here would be ANYTHING but incidental. ;3 ;3 ;3
Aah, Jasprose, quite the flirt.
Anyhoo, thank you for your interest in my liveblog! I probably would have forgotten to look for an answer to that.
It felt weird to me to jump forward like that. I probably won’t do that again.
Re: 190763748660/overtrolled-liveblog-1507-the-egg-is-now-in the symbolism of John and the apple clears up a bit once you recall that Rose and Jade were the ones pushing the game (proffering the apple, as it were) and that upon eating it he was cast from his home planet. Incidentally Jade's cruxite artifact was a Bec piñata (and blindfold) she could not simply smash with the butt of her rifle but had to shoot through the actual Becsprite, using his spacetime powers to hit and shatter it.
Interesting! Another sort of genesis parallel, this time with John as Adam specifically. Does that make Dave the serpent? Or maybe that’s Caliborn, with the whole snake thing. Or maybe that isn’t really important.
I never liked the story of Adam and Eve growing up. My parents took me to church, so I heard it often enough, but as I got older, and I saw the way my parents did things to make the house safe for my little sister, it felt more and more strange that god did not make it harder for Adam and Eve to break his one rule. Christian Sunday school tends to not be very good at answering kids’ questions about Bible stories or encouraging people to ask them. I once dated a Jew who told me that the situation was a bit different for him; Jews are apparently supposed to discuss (and argue about) their holy books. I wonder what it’s like for muslims.
One thing that differs from the Bible story, at least the Bible story as it is usually told, is that in John’s case, being expelled from Eden saved his life. That’s an interesting twist on it.
