Would you be disappointed if tomorrow's sex scene is a flashback? Do you think it is? I mean there are pics of Felicity in a wheelchair, do you think Oliver would have sex with her in the midst of everything, risking hurting her, especially when he's unsure of how to? Not like in a rude way, but I think he'd be kind of tentative, but then again she was in a wheel chair until after they were engaged so who knows. I hope this doesn't come off as rude or anything. I'm just trying to understand

I don’t take it as rude at all! I think you’re just trying to suss out what happens tomorrow. 

They do have sex in a flashback. That’s been confirmed, hasn’t it? Or, at the very least, it’s been strongly implied… I’d be surprised if it were current day. We’ve had their relationship repressed or regressed for so long that I think it would be an odd choice to have them sleep together in current day right now. They need a rebuild, because lord knows they’ve torn down the building blocks for their relationship down to the studs. 

I have no doubt at all that they had sex in season four while she was in a wheelchair (pretty sure Marc actually confirmed that in an ask at one point) before the breakup. And I am absolutely sure that Felicity is well aware of what her body can and cannot do during her paralysis. That seems like the kind of thing she’d research right away. And I think Oliver would want to eliminate uncertainty there, too. At the very least, he’d talk to the doctor or her physical therapist, I’d think. People who are paralyzed can absolutely still have sex - @dmichellewrites has written about that a fair bit and covered it in fic, as well. 

But I’d be stunned if they had sex in current day tomorrow for a few reasons - 1) Chase is there - an active threat on-site - and they know it, 2) The emotional foundation needs to be rebuilt before sex for story purposes, 3) They’re both freshly injured, 4) The team is actively trying to get to them. No, it’ll be flashback. I’d bet the nonexistent balance of my bank account on it.

So I know for a fact this is such an unpopular opinion, but everytime I think about that olicity sex scene I actually get really mad. And I hate the fact that the scene was written/acted in such a way that pretty much guaranteed something more only to have Felicity do such an extreme about face I couldn’t even appreciate what she said. Like at all. It would have been one thing if the scene was all passion and about physical attraction, but it wasn’t. And all because of that stupid pause.

They paused. Oliver took a moment and slowed things down and just looked at Felicity asking her if this was real for her. If this meant they can move forward. If this was about more than just sex. He gave her his whole heart and future and hope asking her if that would be okay and she said yes. She accepted it. She accepted what he gave and assured him that it was real. That this meant something. She essentially promised. And Oliver trusted that with Felicity because Oliver trusts her. He trusted her to not take his heart and throw it back at him. But she did anyway. Worse she left it on the ground and just walked away.

And yet even after all of that Oliver still trusts Felicity with his heart. Even after she went back on her word he still left his heart there on the floor trusting her to pick it up and keep it safe when she was ready.

Then 5x05 happened and that was the first time Oliver had to pick his own heart up and figure out how to protect it again. He heard her loud and clear, she didn’t want his heart anymore. She didn’t see him as her always and that hurt so much. So to move on from that hurt Oliver did what he has always done with his heart. He gave pieces away to other people- Rory, Dinah, Rene, Curtis, Thea, Susan, Lance, the man with the gun, Diggle, Black Siren, Evelyn, Barry, Kara, Star City. He gave everyone else so much he didn’t have anymore left for himself.

I wish this would have been addressed in the show. I wish that they didn’t pause to look into eachother’s eyes and have Oliver confirm that this was okay. I wish they didn’t giggle and have Felicity make that crack about not telling anyone and instead had her rush out because she got scared. Because the way the scene was framed it looked like she lied to Oliver to get laid.

I did like the after scene though because Felicity’s behavior. The fact that she dangled that maybe of I’m not ready to talk yet, for me it was the first time I felt like she was afraid of what their breakup would mean for them. In that moment Felicity was a girl with abandonment issues desperate to not lose the one person that made her feel safe and she was warring with herself. Because as desperate as she is to not lose Oliver she is also not the girl to beg someone to stay. That scene and the scene in 5x05 were the only two times I have felt like Felicity’s heart wasn’t so much unsure that walking away was the right thing to do, but that her heart was afraid of losing too much because of it. Losing Oliver in her life for good would have been too much. It was such a high risk. But both times-- all the times really-- Oliver once again reassured Felicity that he wasn’t going anywhere. That he still left the most important piece of his heart for her at her feet. In her hands. At her back. By her side. Anywhere. He did what so many other people in her life couldn’t. He does what so many other people in her life can’t. Oliver shows Felicity that she gains more from taking risks than she loses. And when she stops being afraid he proves to her that he is a sure bet.

After reading the 520 sex scene script snippet I am going to fully admit that I'm total trash and I don't care what anyone says
