Hello! I was tossing up which of your blogs to ask this on but I have a question for you that's totally not self indulgent (<- lying)
What's your take on Dr. Carmilla? Okay, well, I know your take on her but like. How do you personally see the mechanisms' relationship with her, especially Jonny and Nastya and the others who she canonically mechanised? How do you see that changing over time?
Also just how do you personally characterise her and what're some of your thoughts on her?
This is probably not very coherent. The Carmilla obsession is getting to me :p

There's two answers here! How I characterize her, and how I project that i characterize her to try and set a good example and offset other things. And its been long enough I have no idea which is which anymore, because I think the last time I properly wrote her was.... carmilla week 2024? 2023?

Carm to me..... Well, god. if you were to ask now I just cant get into her being too awful. I'm just so bored of it. Its so overdone. Its boring. its LAME. like, wheres the fun in it at this point? Other people can write their parent angst, to me these days its.... it really does boil down to "aw fuck mom is home we have to hide the booze and pretend to be sober" but its about murdering people!!!
With Jonny and Nastya, those are her kids, her firstborn and her second, her troublesome idiot and her nastya-please-be-a-good-example-fuck-stop-stop-stop. She doesnt like when jonny kills people. but at a certain point its like, well, she has a feral outside only cat and keeping it in has only resulted in it litterally chewing a hole in the window netting to escape. and its killing all the local wildlife. and well.

she supposes she is the parent of the most murderous cat in space, and unfortunately, there is nothing she can do about it.
Jonny and her.... I would say its tense but in that Jonny knows she has the final say, and he knows she's a buzzkill who will walk him through aurora and pour every single bottle of whiskey he's stashed away out one by one while lecturing him.
Nastya and her is like. They're on good terms I think! If I ever were to rewrite my nastya comes back fic id put more of that in there i think, nastya respects carmilla, carmilla points at nastya and is like "isnt my daughter wonderful?" and then doesnt notice because she's facing the camera nastya gunning down civilians because nastya straightens up and doesnt have visible red blood on her when carmilla turns around.
im just so tired of her being kicked out and their relationship being awful forever. I think the dynamic of like. carmilla calls auroras coms, followed by a frantic page over the PSA system by brian saying 'attention everyone. the captain will be returning to the vessel shortly. we have to clean up all the blood.' IS JUST SO MUCH MORE FUN!!!!!!!!

im not 16 17 18 anymore and obsessed with the grimdark of mechanisms canon, and its there! there is a lot of potential in torturing these guys!

Hello! I'm going to annoy you (/lh) in your asks because you're nice to me when I've done it in the past.
Idk how old your narratomancy posts are but I have Thoughts because it's a very cool system. Anyway, you know how in one of the liveshows (is it Spaceport Mahon? Probably) Jonny says "Tim, can I introduce you to the concept known as narrative flow?" and Tim replies "No."
Probably a throwaway line but I like to imagine that this is an argument they've had several times. Given that Jonny probably abuses and/or pushes the limits of narratomancy the most, there's certainly a chance he's aware of it, and I like to think either Tim is fucking with him (and fully knows what's going on) or, refuses to acknowledge it because the idea that the war and terrible shit he experienced happened "just for the plot" is a bit too much to handle.
Or it could be nothing (when initially said it probably was nothing).
