Oddly Specific Hermitcraft Headcanons

Got any headcanons for Hermitcraft (or affilated series) that can really only be described as "oddly specific" (for example, BDoubleO100 always toasts his bread for exactly 15 minutes)? Put 'em here! We take pretty much anything and everything as long as it's SFW, and non-bigoted.

To Oddly Specific Hermitcraft Headcanons! Here, you can see and submit any headcanons you have that can best be described as "oddly specific". Here are some examples of my own:

BDubs always toasts his bread for exactly 15 minutes. This doesn't burn it, because his toaster is broken. As a matter of fact, it doesn't toast anything at all, but the placebo effect works on him. No one's told him the truth about his "toast".

Impulse is lactose intolerant. The whole Season 8 iDimpy Bar Fiasco was supposed to have not happened with the power of magical amethyst fuckery. Unfortunately he messed up and it just made everything worse (read: the amethysts amplified the ambient magic in the air and caused him to start growing plants from his face along with the other unfortunate side effects)...

Pearl likes to crunch on pickles. Not as a snack, she just crunches them between her teeth. Gem always wonders what happens with the extra stock from her shop... Pearl isn't using all of it in her builds, after all!

Xisuma is a shapeshifter. However, he is very unstable and if he isn't in a form or inside of his suit, he just turns into a void-colored goop.

Every base Etho has made has a walk-in freezer. Sometimes, when he gets overwhelmed, he goes in there to chill (hehe) and to get away from people.

Grian is a shapeshifter, so every time he's beside someone (mostly just mumbo or pearl) he make his legs looong enough so that he can be 1 inch taller

Doc is a sentient pillow pet. He’s very soft to hold.

XisumaVoid and Evil Xisuma are both spooky Void beings.

In contrast, most of the Hermits are just humans. (There are exceptions, like Doc, Cleo, Grian, et cetera-but they're the exception rather than the norm (and Grian would prefer to just act as a normal human.)

That said, there are some hybrids on the server-there just aren't that many.

Xisuma... Didn't have a fun time in S8. Between the axolotl thing and EvilXisuma's treatment of him, X might have a few lingering traumas. (Getting shocked by lightning whenever he screwed up didn't help.)

most of the players on the server are a mix of more than two things or were changed in some way, so their code is all sorts of messed up. This is a massive headache for Xisuma.

He checks their code at least twice a season to make sure it isn't deteriorating or getting tangled.

Doc is big in the extreme code modding community (think split tongues, cheek gauges and eye ball tattoos in our world). He has gotten a lot of the hermits to try it out.

Tango likes to change the color of his fire but that's how far he is willing to go.

Impulse tryed a complete species change in season 9, it was fun but he prefers his original form.

Scar likes to change the type of magic he can use. He also likes to change the type of wings he has but only for a week before he goes back to his vex ones.

Mumbo tryed it in season 8 but didn't get anyone's help doing it so he messed up and that's why he turned into a potato. Grians soul shouldn't of fixed it but it did. Doc was very confused how it worked when he found out what happened. He offered to help mumbo next time he wanted to mod but mumbo decided to never try code modding again after all of it was fixed.

code modding is looked down upon but they (scar, doc, tango, impulse) find it fun, they help each other when they want to try a new mod.

cub was an allay then turned into a vex then infected by sculk then turned warden. So his code is very out of order. Reading it is like a choose your own adventure story.

Grian was a player, then turned avian, then forcefully changed into a watcher. You can't really read his code the lines change, disappear and reappear. Some are backwards or in Nyctography. Looking at it causes eye strain and migraines. Xisuma has to take a day off after checking it over. Also the O's and 0's are eyes. And they follow the person looking at the code.

Joehills doesn't have code?

Keralis's code looks normal but it's wrong. It shouldn't work but it does.

Bdubs doesn't have letters or numbers in his code It's more of a flip book animation, if you scroll fast enough a little stick figure starts dancing.

Etho's is in binary

Cleo is actually the player with the easiest code to look over. The rotting corpse makes sculptures has the normalest code.

Watchers have, in simple terms, eye powers. Their whole schtick are EYES. Any moment they do not Have Their Eyes Open is a sign of vulnerability and weakness.

Due to this, they have managed to evolve themselves to be unblinking. Or, if they are young(-er), unsynchronized blinking with multiple sets of eyes. In fact, if they are with a group (of watchers specifically), they begin to synchronize their timing of blinking so that no one will be caught by themselves vulnerable.

However, they have not managed to completely eliminate the need for sleep, as it is an Important Part of everyday (minecraft) life. As sleep is a time where we close our eyes for an extended period of time, it is a very vulnerable time and space for any watcher. Therefore, they also evolved to function with little to no sleep for long periods of time before even HAVING the urge to fall asleep.

That is to say, most of the other watchers can AND DOES stay awake for an outrageous amount of time before disappearing into the void for a few hours and reappearing fresh, ready to repeat the cycle.

This does NOT however, apply to Grian, who always sleeps with both eyes open.

(This freaks people out because a sleeping Grian is a Grian without self-control. Therefore his eyes glow slightly inside his void eyes.)

When Bdubs first came onto the server, he noticed there were people from different countries (Xisuma from England, Keralis from Poland/Sweden, etc.) and decided to make himself seem more "exotic" by saying he was from... Canada.

The thing is he didn't know a lot about Canadian culture besides moose, hockey and maple syrup so he just made stuff up to explain his weird little behaviors.

He kept the charade up until he met Etho, an actual Canadian.

However, this is Bdubs. If there's one thing he knows how to do, it's to be stubborn. He insisted that he was Canadian, but Etho would always laugh at him for trying to "appropriate" his culture in the stupidest ways.

Even today, he insists he is Canadian. The other real Canadians on the server laugh at him for it.

I mentioned this idea in passing in a previous ask, but I want to expand on it.

Grian is Lizzie's reflection.

Lizzie is a changling who was found out and abandoned by her surrogate family at a young age. She grew up alone in the woods.

One day, she decided that she wanted a friend, so she reached into a mirror (or pond) and pulled out her reflection with fae magic.

The two then grew up together as "twin sisters" until they found their way to the faewild, where they reentered society.

Lizzie dyed her hair pink with magic while her reflection transitioned and chose the name Grian.

What this means for them is a bunch of things.

Neither of them have a reflection, which, because Mumbo is a vampire and Scar is a wil'o'wisp (and thus a disembodied soul) means that the buttercups all don't have reflections.

Grian has a fear of mirrors (because what if he falls in and gets stuck?)

Grian also has the instinct to mimic Lizzie. This instinct crosses worlds, BTW. When Grian is alone in Hermitcraft he'll just start doing something strange that doesn't make sense if you don't know that he's a reflection or what Lizzie is doing. He once randomly broke out into song and sung Deal With Destiny backwards, Mumbo walked up on him and Grian denies it to this day.

Lizzie once got accused of being a vampire by Sausage because she has pointed teath, point ears, ghostly pale skin and no reflection. She has to be a vampire, right? She never explained it to him.

Most of Hermitcraft know Grian isn't a normal fae, but still have no fucking clue what's going on

OK, so, Lizzie, Grian, Jimmy, Pearl, Martyn, Cleo and Gem all claim to be siblings, despite none of them being related like that.

So, Pearl is a human, and was taken by the fae as a child. Lizzie is her changling.

Now, Lizzie's hair is naturally dirty blonde, and her parents figured out she was a changling at a young age and kicked her out the house. Lizzie, wandering around the world and lonely, decided to one day reach into a mirror and pull out her reflection so she could have a friend. As they grew, she dyed her hair pink with magic and her reflection transitioned and chose the name Grian.

While in the faewild, Pearl met a fae named Gem and was raised by her and her (biological) twin Fwhip.

Gem has a doppelganger named Cleo, who was adopted by Martyn's family.

Grian found a canary avian chick and adopted him as a brother, naming him Jimmy.

They all found this out during the hermempires crossover

Welsknight is stuck in a Perry-the-platypus type of situation, where, when he is in his usual armour, all the other Hermits easily recognize him. But as soon as he takes it of he becomes 'just some guy' who gets asked how he got on the server.

A side effect of this phenomenon is that the Hermits that don’t have some extremely obvious facial features (like Doc‘s creeper-cyborg-ness or Keralis‘ big eyes) could just put on Wels‘ armour and pretend to be him, and unless they start talking, most Hermits will think them to be Wels.

So basically: no armour -> some guy I don’t know, probably illegally on our server >:(

The only reason why he's on the server is because the hermits liked him so much that they let him stay.
