Until the inevitable movie is confirmed, I’ve decided to put my time and Graphic Design skills to the test by making 4 mock up movie posters about the 1992 UK General Election (aka Major v. Kinnock v. Ashdown). The movie title ofc being “General Election ‘92” cuz yes :))
I first colour coded the original pictures to match each of the Lads’ Party colours (John Major for blue, Neil Kinnock for red, Paddy Ashdown for yellow).

Then I took screenshots of their respective left eyes (cuz lowkey they’re very pretty <33, especially John Major’s eyes since they look so cheeky and sparkly ✨✨ <33) and experimented with some mock up movie posters, conveying the “race against time” feeling via their eyes, to show the sense of the optimism, the enthusiasm, the tense feeling, the hopelessness, the fear that it’ll all be for nothing.

After that, I did some experimentation. I went for a sorta minimalistic approach to the posters, ones that went for a simple yet somewhat effective design.
The first poster I did with squares and in zigzag descending order (idk the name of that particular type of poster design w/the squares lol, but ya’know the ones with the actors’ faces cut up into lil squares or smth? Yeah that what I was trying to show lol. If anyone knows the name of what I’m talking about, do let me know!!).
The second poster was where I drew over Major, Kinnock & Ashdown’s eyes in the colour of their Party’s colour schemes, to give it a rough sketchy look. Then I coloured over the pencil sketches with fountain pen, again to show a bit of surreal-esque sketchiness to it.
The third poster I went a bit more experimental. I drew the Lads (represented by their eyes ofc) all eyeing (quite literally) to the door to 10 Downing Street (which btw I used a photo reference for the 10DS door in the drawing), representing their goal to finally become PM of Britain. The stripes (once again the colour codes of their respective parties) that each have all lead them down to the sacred door of that sacred building, kinda like a Primary Colour (Red, Blue, Yellow) rainbow of sorts lol.
The fourth and final poster is the same as the third one, except this time I added some essential dramatic teaser poster-esque taglines, which read :
“3 Leaders. 1 Goal. Who will win to become the Nation’s PM?”
This was really fun to do, especially cuz I have a bit of a hyperfixation on 1990s British Politics (especially with John Major) and it did challenge me a bit when doing the experimentations and stuff lol.
