Applications are open for our 2018-19 graduate internship program. 

This internship is open to all graduate students who intend to pursue careers in fields related to the visual arts, open to all nationalities.

All four programs plus Getty Publications have positions open. See the list of all internship positions and host departments participating in the 2018–2019 year.

QUALIFICATIONS

—Students currently enrolled in a graduate program (Masters or Doctorate) in a field relevant to the internship(s) for which they are applying. OR —Individuals who have completed a relevant graduate degree on or after January 1, 2015, with postgraduate activities in their field, paid or unpaid.

DEETS

—Full-time beginning September 10, 2018. Most internships are for 8 months, ending May 17, 2019. —$20,000 for eight months, $30,000 for twelve months, plus $1,000 relocation expenses. Support for research travel is available up to $2,500. —Eligible to enroll in the Getty’s health care plan. —At the Getty Center or Getty Villa in Los Angeles, CA

MFA Program Intern

Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) Program

 The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), America’s first art museum and school of fine arts, has an internship opportunity available in its Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) Program available to graduates and first year MFA students. The intern will be will be supervised by the Chair of the MFA Program, and will be granted use of a private studio during the course of the internship which runs from late August through mid May.  

 The MFA Program Internship provides an opportunity to learn about the many facets of administering an MFA program, from planning and scheduling to curriculum development and assessment.  The intern will work with graduate faculty, students and staff, learning from the key constituents that make up the graduate experience.  They will develop teamwork skills and see firsthand how individuals and departments collaborate to run a program. The will learn about pedagogical approaches and how curriculum and school structure support learning goals.  The intern will assist with general office work in support of the department.  They will work closely with the MFA Chair and will gain valuable skills that will prepare them for further work in art school administration.

 This is an unpaid internship for an artist passionate about graduate education and administration, expected to require approximately 10 hours per week during the internship period.

Volunteer your art skills to a non-profit (if that’s cool with you)

Sweet Fields is an organic farm and sustainability center in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We are in need of an artist to help with graphic design needs. Any amount of help is appreciated – the volunteer would not need to take on all of these projects if they have limited time. Our specific needs include:

- hanging signs to go along the public path through our property

- flyers

- email marketing templates

- design/color scheme of our website

- postcards and donation materials

- educational posters and signage

 This position can be done virtually, there is no need to physically come to our location. We're familiar with Gimp and Photoshop so you can use either. We don't have a license for Photoshop though (and can't afford one) so if you do use Photoshop it needs to be able to be exported as file formats we can use.
