How to know what to draw, this is how to design a schedule.
A schedule should be carefully planned ahead of time and be air tight to the point where you know how you will respond in all variables that are in your control
You need to evaluate accurately, objectively and with kindness to self. You need to see your work from the eye of an onlooker.
What have you been doing well, which areas need more attention. You can only do this if you can: 1. See the issue, 2. Know what to do to fix it
Observational practice can be anything, see the world, it can all be broken down. Look at how other people represent things - that's a style/master study. Then try it, that's applying it.
Can't see it at all, a mentor can expedite it, but they can't make you see it. That's on you to work out.
If you don't know how to fix it, that's a targeted study. A deep dive into a specific area.
Then it's repetition.
If everything sucks, that's good, it means it doesn't matter what you do, everything is a level up.
Once you have analysed the key areas construct a plan.
What's the overarching focus - this decides the composition, subject and format.
It needs to be modular - so you can adjust it as you improve/learn things.
Have a consistent grounding anchor - this is the immutable truth on which everything else is evaluated. It can be anything - "explore poses, but not style", "explore expressions, but maintain body language". This lets you be objective. And importantly, shows you progress over time when everything else is growing. Without a core, growth is sporadic and difficult to measure (and if you can't measure it, you don't know where you are, and you feel crappy at the 'lack of progress' since there's always room for improvement)
It needs to sound fun and interesting. - this is what keeps you showing up and makes it feel not like practice. You plan ahead to know what areas it will address, but make sure it doesn't feel like practice when you're actually doing it, you plan everything ahead of time so you can just focus on the drawing process when you're ready, nothing will feel like a roadblock because you already accounted for it.
Flow state. Do not evaluate as you go. Course correct style and practical things about how you're drawing, NOT what you're drawing, because that's what the schedule is for. This keeps you in flow state. No distractions. Every time you think about something it breaks focus. - this topic needs exploration
Post schedule downtime activities. Important. Don't rush into the next thing. Take proper time to take a break. Let the brain catch up and process everything. Share the work. Take it easy.
This is when you draw your fanart, and enjoy your progress for a bit. Draw whatever with no purpose, but build up an idea of what sort of things are can work on next. This phase is important because you can see the effect the practice has had on how it feels to draw and provides a body of images to build the next body of work with. Incidentally, it doesn't have to be good, whatever your body says, it's a lie, don't get sucked into thinking because you drew so much everything has to be amazing. It's the same process as weight lifting, just because you can lift 200kg doesn't mean you're going to do that every time, it doesn't suddenly make you garbage.

Is this the last one? 😭😭😭 Are we done? Did we get all of it the systemsssss yet?

Alright, I'm just being thorough, I genuinely think once this moment passes, I just start doing it, you probably won't hear these sort of long post again, since it's all going to live in my head.
I'll give it a couple more days, I need to rest anyway, but essentially the next thing I'll be doing is doing a broad sweep to collect data on my tastes, while working on various techniques, and I need to do that without any social influences to find out what sort of things I like. I'll hoard everything until I get a decent understanding of myself, then we can build the next thing when I'm back!
Alright. I'm praying no more posts 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Once I start that's it, I think I disappear for a while?
