I have learned the power, when man asked “how do we shade artwork?” Art god responded “Use a multiply layer, dipshit”. For so long was I blind to this wisdom
I have never heard of a multiply layer until now, this thing is freaking awesome I just pick a color and draw over my stuff and it automatically shades it with that color IVE FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL
IN OTHER NEWS, I had a piece accepted to a show with a submission fee, for the first time ever?!
Sometimes, great pictures come from starting over after a not-so-great attempt.
I got stuck around here before creating a whole new .tif file ^^"
Congratulations if you follow this blog. I don't think I'm post the first attempt anywhere else, ha!
I make hair bows and someone really bid $1,000 and won
Last Saturday was my birthday, and to celebrate I was running one of my events. What I do is I make a bunch of handsewn one-of-a-kind bows (usually with pins in the center) and then put them up for grabs in my bow group Discord (invite link if you want to come see). Some of them are auction bows - usually the fancier bows. And then people can bid on them if they want them. Anyway, so I made this one bow...
Which uses this handcrafted rhodium plated silver center made by the amazing Seralunis It's SUCH a glitzy bow with lots of bling and details. Because the center was a custom ordered item, it's a little more pricey than my usual and I was worried that the starting bid of $280 might have been too much.
Someone opened at a $350 bid. Then, I watched in awe all weekend as 3 people fought over this bow, ending in a personal record amount of $1,000 for it. They said they were using it for their wedding and everything involved with it so I can understand! But I'm beside myself about the fact that someone wanted to pay that much for my stuff and absolutely grateful to this amazing buyer (and the other two bidders, of course). Not sure I'll ever stop being amazed. It's Wednesday and I'm STILL shocked! 😍✨
so i’m on the magic art tablet, and some guy walked by and was like “did you draw that?? it looks very nice. it’s h a u n t i n g” and i’m just like a;slkhglkhdsl;kghslkghlskhglksgh because this is the first time some random stranger has said something more specifically than “nice” (or maybe even anything at all) omgggg
