TEMPORARY MEDIUM
November residency at THE WIG
55 Great Tindal St, Birmingham, B16 8DR
For the month of November collaborative group newnewmoon will host a series of interventions, workshops and audience participation-lead performances in the artist-run initiative THE WIG.
With rarely two members in the same place at the same time, newnewmoon work collaboratively on sculptural performances via social media, internet phoning and telepathy. newnewmoon are especially interested in the sculptural atmosphere generated by relationships between people and spaces and use meditation, exercise and dance to connect.
newnewmoon will spend the duration of the residency exorcising, cleansing and healing The Wig before its Winter hibernation.
PROGRAMME:
4th November: SEARCH
THE MEDIUM, using a divining rod and leaning heavily on BRUCE NAUMAN’s studio experiments of the 60s, will feel their way through the space to uncover and assess any potential energy that will need to be healed, or exorcised before further interventions can take place.

8th of November: CLEANSE
THE HEALER will then channel DIVINE, JANINE ANTONI and 90s ACID HOUSE to CLEANSE the space of any negative energy using only the best synthetic wigs and smoke machine gases.

11th of November: HEAL workshop
12-2pm
HEAL is an informal discussion with tea, coffee and cake around how people use art to HEAL themselves and how this translates to the collective trauma and memory of physical spaces. Tissues and deep breathing techniques will be provided.
FREE. Bookings essential. Emotional space limited to ten people.
18th of November: RAISING THE DEAD BINGO SEANCE.
5:00-7:00pm, with readings starting promptly at 5:30pm
Need to contact the spirit world for any reason? Forgot to ask something? Here’s your chance: RAISING THE DEAD BINGO SEANCE is exactly what you think it is. A large floor-based Ouija board will occupy THE WIG’s main space. Audience members will write their question on a piece of paper, pop it in the bingo ball and the GHOST-HOST will read out the chosen questions. THE MEDIUM will then contact the spirit realm and get an answer, whilst the GHOST-HOST channels DONNA SUMMER, MADONNA (yes, we know!) and probably BLACK BOX. Expect more smoke and flashing lights. (terms and conditions apply, newnewmoon are in no way liable for THE MEDIUM contacting the wrong spirit and giving you a response that you may not expect, or want).

20th of November: SPEAKING IN TONGUES
12:00-2:00pm
Now that the space has been vanquished of any negative energy, newnewmoon will use a series or transformative sculptural devices to HEAL themselves and those around them. Through the use of exercises, dance movements and even some ad-hoc yoga, newnewmoon invite you to come and stretch and re-energise yourselves ready for the winter months ahead.
