My Griffin Witcher, Artegal of Kovir. After the sorcerer-made avalanche that destroyed Kaer Seren, his home since infancy and where he expected to die, and killed most of his brothers, in his search for a way to assuage his immense grief, to find meaning in what happened (mainly, to find popular anti-sorcerer sentiment, to have revenge), and in a desire for something resembling the regimented world of Kaer Seren he becomes an adherent to and knight for the Church of the Eternal Fire. (He’s always been very good at igni, so there’s that…).

He’s inspired by pre-Raphaelite art and the Arthurian influences (hence his name) in the lore of the Griffins.

Sketchy storyboard of something I’d like to write soon involving my Griffin Witcher Artegal returning to Kaer Seren to find it a ruin from the avalanche triggered by mages. He finds Keldar, falling apart and frost bitten, giving the impression that he’s so worn down by sorrow and futility that he has no room for vengeance.

Not so for Artegal! Who leaves incredibly angry, as he assumed he would retire and die as a Kaer Seren instructor (not to mention all the personal loss), who has lost his home, family, dogma, and purpose. He ends up finding it in the church of the eternal fire and their anti-mage stance and it becomes a place to exorcise his grief as violent hatred and also his survivor’s guilt/death wish. Getting back into more serious art (ish… this is a sketch after all fjdjfjdjd) after a rough time
