Here is a picture of original woodblock print of the mystical Amabie from Japanese folklore. I am interested in the story of how the three legged, beaked, scaly, glowing mermaid/merman like Amabie appeared from the sea to predict epidemic or abundance. AND more importantly showing an image of the Amabie to anyone is sick is said to help them get better. We are putting the good energy out there and have made a few Amabies from fused glass and fine glass paints. Playing with gouache for really the first time. Seeing what it can do for me. Want to get even more scumbly. I was planning on only black, white, and grey...but now I know color will creep it. I like how muddy and mushy it can get, but still be opaque and layered. Beat of both worlds between watercolor and acrylic! Yay! This is just a practice.
