She is known for her multidimensional artworks, some of which depict feminist ideals, women’s experience, race and ethnicity, and socio-political issues. Debbie graduated with honors, Magna cum laude from California State University,Northridge with a BA in Studio Art and a minor in English and creative writing studies, as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. She also earned an Associates of Arts degree from Antelope Valley College in Liberal Arts and Sciences – Humanities and Arts, Summa cum laude as a life-long member of Honor's Society. She is currently studying for an MFA in Fine Art at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Here is what she has to relay: "Hopper once said, 'If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.'Language is oftentimes used to hide true intent or truth. The human body communicates without the spoken word. Facial expression speaks an entire language on its own. Human anatomy is different for each person, for no two people have the same anatomy thus; each person has uniqueness and expressive qualities that defines their individual true nature. Movement, expression, and physical gesture are highly exclusive and distinct for each person. My painting focus is to depict my figures, their gestures, individualism, and expression. I paint figurative works and portraits. Professional photographic sessions are part of my process. I draw my figures on canvas using vine or willow charcoal. Close observation, intuition, and capturing likeness and image are additional parts of my personal process. Individualism, gesture, and expression are important to my work.
