Merlin rewatch -- S4E6: The Servant of Two Masters
Smart Arthur my beloved!!! I’m so sorry they only allowed you seconds of cleverness. Oh well. Also he always looked gorgeous in Agravaine's chamber for some reason.
I love season 5 Arthur. He was so sweet and happy most of the while. I guess that's when his character developed the most and he actually became less of a prat (or the writers realising that the previous seasons gave him minimal development and since s5 was the last one BAM here you go he's good now).
No Agravaine. No Uther. Just the people he loved, around him. Gwen was back and he was with his wife again and Merlin was by his side as always and he must have felt really good about knighting Mordred too.
And maybe its just me but i got the impression that he treated Merlin way better too, and was less reluctant, if not at all, to admit that he was his best friend. That could have happened since season 4 already but *grrrr* agRaVAine. (So maybe it was Guilt for not believing Merlin about Agravaine) This couldve given us SO much more merthur content (we got some good stuff already but..) had Merlin not been all stressed up about Mordred.
I dont know..he just seemed really sweet.
We got to see this soft Arthur(all the white tunics).
Worried bestie Arthur ("I haven't seen you smile since the last three days").
Arthur being a mess without his wife and/or bestie/manservant ("Arthur wont even notice I'm gone" *cut to Arthur being a mess until Gwen shows up*).
Husband Arthur (some of it was portrayed as opposite to Gwen's enchantment but we did get some good stuff)
The way he treated Mordred. Again, i could just be grasping at stuff here, but I often think of the scene where he cheers Mordred (by like lifting him and all) and it reminds me of the difference as compared to the goblin episode ending where he was laughing at one of his knights (and suddenly starts braying).
And the iconic "... I always thought you were the bravest man I ever met" (ignores the remaining part because..no. he don't mean that. That was petty but hurt)
There might be a lot of things about season 5 that deem it so depressing, but Arthur was one of my favourite parts in it. And its quite a small list.
UR ARTHUR ICON *CRIES* <333 me love him
HEHEHE
pick a time Arthur fucked up
lying about cooking an apology dinner
breaking up with Gwen because his fake goth uncle said she wasn't good enough
wiping a dirty rag on his employee's face and laughing at him
using his employee as a step stool then firing him for passing out from fatigue
killing. a. unicorn.
threatening to kill a child to steal the cup of life from the Druids
literally leading slaughter campaigns on Druid settlements
using his employee as a punching bag for training
never apologizing for the magic ban or anything even on his deathbed
starting a war like 2 weeks after his coronation
Arthur Appreciaton Meme: Favorite quote about Arthur;
Arthur is not just a king. He is the Once and Future King. Take heart, for when Albion's need is greatest; Arthur will rise again.
Arthur
Me and my brother still watch this show every fucking day. We tape it because it comes on like really early in the morning. My mom is always concerned because I laugh so hard at that show. I love it so much.
