Since Dracula Daily has made so much of Tumblr enamored with Dracula, and more so with the human protagonists than with the Count himself, I think this is a good place to share this fundraiser from the YouTube channel Hollywood Graveyard.

This fundraiser is for a new urn and public niche at Hollywood Forever Cemetery for the ashes of actress Helen Chandler, who played Mina in the classic 1931 Dracula film starring Bela Lugosi.

Ever since she died in obscurity in 1965, her ashes have been stored in the basement vault of Chapel of the Pines Crematory. But Arthur Dark, the host of the Hollywood Graveyard web series, is raising money to finally give her a dignified resting place that her fans can visit. He has her family's blessing to do this.

I’ve gotten so hooked on the Hollywood Graveyard channel on YouTube, it’s almost embarrassing. Beautifully produced videos of tours of cemeteries and the gravesites of celebrities, both well-known and not so well-known. Lots of history, trivia, and reverence. This is one of those channels that I could stay up all night watching.

A niche for Edmund Gwenn

This is a new fundraiser from the Youtube channel Hollywood Graveyard: a follow-up to last summer's fundraiser for a niche for the ashes of Helen Chander.

Edmund Gwenn was a prolific film and stage actor, who appeared in many movies in Hollywood's golden age, but he's best remembered today as Kris Kringle in the original 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street. This role won him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and has made him the definitive movie Santa Claus for countless viewers.

(For @bethanydelleman and other Jane Austen fans – he also played Mr. Bennet in the 1940 Greer Garson/Laurence Olivier Pride and Prejudice.)

Since his death in 1959, his ashes have been stored in the private basement vault at Chapel of the Pines crematory. But now, as with Helen Chandler, funds are being raised to move his urn to a public niche at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

In honor of his most famous role, the goal is to have his new niche ready just in time for Christmas.
