Lagonda is a British luxury car marque established in 1906, which has been owned by Aston Martin since 1947. The Lagonda company was founded in 1906 in the UK in Staines, Middlesex, by American-born Wilbur Gunn q former opera singer. He became a British national in 1891 and worked as a speedboat and motorcycle engineer in Staines. He named the company after the Shawnee settlement of Lagonda in modern-day Springfield, Ohio, the town of his birth The 2 litre models 14-60 and 2 litre Speed were introduced in 1925, gone were the unitary originals of Wilbur Gunn, the new engine designer was Arthur Davidson from Lea Francis the chassis now made of conventional channel was the work of A E Masters. The engine had a detachable head with hemispgerical combustion chambers, and a high mounted camshaft operating the valves at 90 degrees.
