Heyyy, if I could pick your brain right quick, whatcha know about djinn? Aside from the generic lore? I'm having Issues™ distinguishing between dark fae, djinn, and lowborn bc there seems to be some areas of overlap. Could you maybe do an alike/unalike comparison between lowborns and djinn? Or give me some pointers? Pretty please?
Totally! I’m actually working on a guide to distinguish different species’ energies, and derivatives of energy from one another (water versus ice, for example.) Yo so I’ve worked with djinn a little bit, but not very much. Here’s what I know though:
UPG AHEAD OBVIOUSLY:
Djinn vs. Dark Fae
Not all djinn are dark, many are very bright. (I assume by you saying “dark fae” you are specifying those that feel dark.)
Djinn do not have that inherent fae energy signature. (still working on writing these out per species…it’s an investigative process let me tell you). But. They don’t feel….”naturey” in the same way, let’s put it at that. To me, djinn feel more similar to the average human than your average fae does; djinn feel “dustier” in a way. Not best terminology, but I don’t know how else to put it. Makes sense as Djinn were made from air/fire in lore, if I remember correctly?
Djinn vs Lowborns:
Djinn do not have the inherent “soft void” energy that Lowborn demons have. Lowborn energy is usually cool and silky to the touch (thanks to that soft void derivative), while djinn energy is usually warm, and has a more gritty texture (thanks to that air/fire derivative).
Many djinn, when in human/humanoid forms, do not have horns. All/most lowborns have horns.
Many if not most djinn, of all skill levels, are inherently capable of shapeshifting. This is because their base element is a derivative of air. The only lowborns capable of shapeshifting are Ubi, and those very very magically talented (which most lowborns are not).
Many Djinn seem to come from a realm where there having an entirely physical body (like ours, and like lowborns) is not the norm.
Note that these will vary based on the type of djinn, there are ifrit, marid, jann, and many, many unnamed more. But these are the general “core” djinn traits.
This identification process is why I try to stress the significance of energy work in spirit work. You WILL need to know energy signatures if you want to work with a wide variety of spirits.
Hope this helped!
