Astral Log 8.14.22
Saw a new area in astral last night. It was deep underground in a carvern, accessible only by the water leading into it. There were luminous white shells and crystals spotting the shallows trailing the rocky shore and pink algae along the edge of the water and along the cave walls in such a way that I was reminded of cherryblossom petals. There were beings here — it’s hard to describe one maiden as anything other than a Portuguese man of war jellyfish given humanoid form. She asked a traveler there what they wanted most, as she’d seen this man around a few times, but he refused to tell her and she vowed to keep an eye on him until he did. There were mermaids here, unremarkable except that their tails were like a galactic motif; a deep cosmic blue color with iridescent flecks along the fluke. They were all dark haired and oddly friendly. That is the first thing I noticed about this place: the lack of hostility from the locals. The respectful, almost reverent way both the visitors and the community had about them makes me think this place was either a temple or the dwelling of someone highly esteemed. I don’t know precisely why I was there, but I’m thankful to have seen it.
