Artworks for a Human cover
A video from autistic twitch streamer a_lilian, who uses speech-to-text-to-speech for their streams and videos, on how microsoft broke their voice.
They bring up excellent and salient points about who really "owns" an artificial voice, and that the voices of disabled people who use technology to produce speech are often not really owned by us. They can be changed, broken, put behind a paywall, or taken away without our consent. This is something that really needs to change!
Jefferson gave you a call in Valentines Day.
Sorry I didn’t make it in time, it was like 5AM when I finished putting it together, then I told myself “I can still improve this audio pitch!” and then went to sleep, while it was Sunday some life happened and here we are, at 2AM once again, working on this same audio...
I was feeling like placing a background music to it, however, the “I love you” at the end was sounding so incredibly heartfelt for a computer-generated thing, I kind of decided to leave it as voice only, music would’ve made it worse.

Oh dear, humanity unleashed a monster... and I am trying to domesticate it.
Info to the nerds only -- this audio was 100% computer-generated... Yes, it’s artificial, Derek Phillips have not voiced this!
I’m legit out of words. I’m both immensely happy and... scared of the future. It’s scary how precise it is, although the pitch is hard to control in order to make it sound more natural, but holy cereal, it is alive!
This is too fun, I’m tempted to do a “Derek reads thirst tweets” kind of silly thing.
Sorry if it feels kind of dead inside, because it literally is. Still trying to tinker around with the pitch and tone, multiple audio generations must be done in order to handpick one which did fine, or even sew parts from various takes.
