“While a political program is an analysis, a slogan is synthesis” – a quote from “How to win an election?”, an article published on tajnikipolityki.pl .

A meaning and value of common words are likely to change when spoke out by a prominent politician. A good slogan is the base, that can make voters to believe despite all. Many prominent candidates armed with their slogans become timeless part of pop culture.

Slogan “We'll manage” appeared in a 2015 campaign, while I changed this intended usage in 2018, at the Light Move Festival in Lodz, Poland. Today it changes the context and functionality again: coronavirus pandemic, fight for woman rights, and presidential election, that are supposed to happen in Poland on May 10. “We'll manage” now embodies our rebel against the system, and politicians as its militia. Join the “we’ll manage” events and make your statement for these words. “Just say it” was made in 2018 by invitation to the Light Move Festival in Lodz, Poland. My project was about analyzing a strategy of a candidate who desires the power. I copied “We'll manage” slogan from a political poster and shaped it in a large neon, that was placed in Lodz city center. (Slogan “We'll manage” was used in a campaign of Beata Szydlo, presented as a potential prime minister by Law and Justice party.) I contrasted the positive message of the slogan with recordings of speeches and sounds recalling tragic moments of Polish modern history.

Slogan „Damy radę” zarezerwowany dla promocji kampanii politycznej po raz pierwszy zmienił swoje znaczenie na Festiwalu Światła w Łodzi w 2018 roku.

Dzisiaj, po raz kolejny zmienia swoje znaczenie, funkcję i sens. Pandemia COVID-19 wniosła następny kontekst. Podobnie walka o prawa kobiet w Polsce i nadchodzące wybory.  Dołącz do wydarzenia "damy radę" (link).   

Historia neonu:

Instalacja multimedialna  "Powiedz tylko słowo" została zrealizowana w 2018 roku na zaproszenie Festiwalu Światła w Łodzi. Miała ona na celu przeanalizować strategię człowieka, który pragnie władzy. W ramach tego projektu skopiowiałam zostało hasło z plakatu wyborczego i powstał wielkoformatowy neon „Damy radę”, który zawisł w przestrzeni publicznej miasta. Slogan ten był hasłem w kampanii wyborczej Prawa i Sprawiedliwości. (Kandydatką tej partii na premiera była Beata Szydło i to ona głównie kojarzona jest z tym hasłem.) W opozycji do wizji neonowi towarzyszyła ścieżka audio - zapis historycznych treści, m.in.: ogłoszenie Stanu Wojennego z 13.12.1981 przez Generała Jaruzelskiego, inauguracja Sejmu PRL emitowana w TV, przemówienie radiowe z 1924 Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego, przemówienie radiowe prezydenta Mościckiego 1936. Instalacja dla wielu była atrakcją i pomimo ścieżki dźwiękowej, neon był głównym powodem do sefie i fotografii grupowych.
