@iamdonisha ・・・ As a writer, one of my greatest resources is chilling on the corner and watching how humans exist. Whether it be on a plane, in a train, on the bus or trodding... I learn a lot in transit. Simple moments that are passed off as unimportant inform my characters and their perspectives. I see beautiful stories everywhere. Human beings are amazing, so is every other living, breathing, creation in this universe. I feel like sometimes we are everything and nothing at the same time. The more I know is the more I realize there is to know. So I try to be present, step out and stay out of the box as much as possible. #Repost @iamdonisha ・・・ Trodding through the countryside, getting a chance to assess the damage for myself. After a Hurricane hits Jamaica, the geography looks very similar. Lots of questions in my mind. Primary one... Why is Haiti so underdeveloped? The more land I see, the more I over stand. As the first and only Caribbean nation to fight for independence, to be too strong would be too defiant in the perspective of international governments who enjoy being able to always 'give aid'. There was very little infrastructure in the first place. The kind of aid that Haiti needs will have to come from her children who have been able to receive education and insight beyond a colonized identity. There is too much here for the people to feel so little. The negative propaganda from the media does nothing to build confidence that there can be growth and healing. What is your skill? What programs and new models of existence can you share? There is an artistic and conscious community already here that we can strengthen efforts through.
