Every summer I go into clean studio mode. This means lots of things I’ve held on to get thrown out and organization occurs. Like this little spot by the air compressor. Instead of just stacking the tools on the shelf I finally drilled holes into the wood on the wall and stuck them in the holes. Missing my studio today. The beautiful light, the other artists nearby, and the quiet. Helps me think. I used to think I needed to decide whether I was a landscape painter or a floral painter. I wasn’t sure they tied together and thought I needed to choose one or the other. Making postcards each day has been therapeutic. No regard for my usual style, but experimenting with new media and subject matter, or lack there of. I’ve found that often the way to get your mind of yourself is to do something for someone else. Not easy to do in isolation, so doing what I can do. Also, I haven’t forgotten about my featured painting of the day. At 5 am when I couldn’t sleep, I wrote this long post about meditating ➡️ and then realized that the painting was already sold.
