How do you manage to get artists to draw art of your characters?

Idk if this will help since every artist is different and it’s ultimately their choice but I would say take note of these 4 things

Don't rush them, most artists that do requests are also doing other requests plus other personal things as well, and unlike commissions there is nothing forcing them to complete your request, so its always best to be patient with them

Don't be rude, I don't really have to explain this one, just don't try to force the artist to complete/do the request

Funny situation happened to me where an random person messaged me on DMs, saying how their character can beat my character, and when I asked why they are saying this, they thought I was an artist and by saying how OP their character was, they think I would draw their character/do an art request

You shouldn't do this, and also really read an blogs post before asking for an art request to a person who can;t draw

Have an interesting concept, if you have an interesting concept for an character that an artist likes, they will hear you out. If request something cringe like 'HeY CAN yoU dO mY SANs Oc, 100error!Sans, wHo is a goD and Op" they will likely be uninterested, not to say every artist will reject it

Give them options, this something I personally do is to give artists options on what character they want to draw because some artists are limited (whether it be only certain characters or complexity) on what they can draw, so I always provide multiple options either simple or has different types of characters that the artist can choose from that their more comfortable with as well as being lenient

Again this is mostly my opinion, this is NOT a surefire way to get an artist to accept your request

It is their decision and you must respect that
