10 App Recommendations
New year, new semester. Hence, some app recommendations from me. I particularly recommend R Discovery, this app has changed my life forever.
Pedometer Step I use this app to track my steps and how active I am each day.
Yuka This app is fantastic for scanning beauty and hygiene products and determining their quality as it lists and ranks the ingredients by safety (unpleasant and shocking discoveries were made).
Artly Artly is great for learning about the various art styles and the history behind it. Pretty good for beginners.
R Discovery This app is fantastic for research papers, journal publications and literally anything else for academia. You can pick various topics to follow and discover. There's a paid version, but my current unpaid version works just fine for me. This app had an insane range of articles, with many interesting niches such as case studies of the foreign intercultural identity in China, the impact of Chinese culture on 19th century russian artists who were sent to Beijing as part of a religious mission, Huizhou architecture and contemporary art in the context of rural revitalization.
SmartBook I love this app, it's fantastic for reading in a foreign language or for language practice. You basically upload any novel that you want to read, and if there are any words or phrases that you don't understand you basically just highlight them and it translates them for you.
Pleco A must for any Chinese learners.
English Poems This app is great for whenever I'm travelling and don't have a book on hand to pass the time. It's all in English but features works from other non-English authors.
Русская классика (Ruskaya klasika) If you know or are learning russian and enjoy literature then this is 100% for you. This free app has many russian works (in Russian) which makes it more convenient to have them all in one app rather than as downloads all over the place.
Ludo King I am biased, as I spent so much time on this app during the pandemic. This basically the game Ludo, but online. My friend introduced this to me around 5ish years ago and to date this is one of the very few game apps that I have.
文字大玩家 Another game app, but it helps with learning character components and is good practice for remembering some characters.
I had a dream about being at an estate sale and the only thing I wanted was an incredibly dramatic baroque style painting of three Aye-Aye's in a marching band.
I do not have the trained abilities to recreate it as delightfully as my mind did so you'll have to settle for this adorable grotesque doodle.
Sketchbook set by @spitblossoms x artly
Nott the Brave is at her best when she's yelling
Drew her like Mao Mao
@overdrivels got me sappy like a dumbass with that one Mccree fic (Bum Knee) so I drew something for it
Careful darling… I bite 💋🩸.
