ART OF COMPOSITION. 

This was my outcome for this project. I experimented with making short gifs using 3 images repeatingly. I then recorded on my phone sounds by scratching on bark and splashing water and combined all of this to a video I shot of some friends dancing in front of a projection. The beggining of the video shows a friend who is Bulgarian giving a palm reading. I chose to do a personal archive project and video because i’m really interested in old pagan beliefs and spirituality, but also every cultures approach to rituals, music and dance.

Slime Molds

Slime Mold: A simple organism that consists of an acellular mass of creeping jelly-like protoplasm containing nuclei, or a mass of amoeboid cells. When it reaches a certain size it forms a large number of spore cases.

For my collaboration between art and science, slime molds were something that really interesting me. As a self-organising organism, slime molds display impressive forms of intelligence by replicating human railway systems and working successfully as a group. The video displaying John Bonner’s footage interested me in particular due to the almost hypnotic and surreal physicality of the organism- the slow moving substance looks like something out of a science fiction film but is just a reminder of how fascinating the natural world can be.
