On Predatory Behavior

I've got so many ideas I've been putting together, and now it's getting to a point where I can start to share them with others; but in order to do that I need to find artists to help make these comics a reality. And there's the big problem:

Finding artists is hard. It's easy as hell to "find" an artist. If they've got great stuff out there it's easy to spot. Getting them to pay attention to you, let alone work with you? that's a whole other matter. 

So what do you do? You find them early. Before they break, and someone else discovers them. That means you have to find the talent when they're young. Young? Like young in the business, or chronologically? It usually means both. So as I stalk deviantart or instagram for artists I can't help feel like some creepy old dude. I mean you're looking at pictures online created by people way younger than you. It's tough not to see the weird creepy parallels. I mean of course there is a grossly wide disparity between this type of predatory behavior and what I'm alluding to, but it doesn't help me feel any better about bothering artists with my requests.
