Today I went to Burlingame on behalf of @artsedmatters to help Roosevelt Elementary school celebrate #ArtsEdWeek. We collaborated on a 16ft drawing about the feeling we get when we're making art. First, I asked students in each class to do a motion that could represent how they feel when they make art. We retreated these motions to an @alphabetrockers soundtrack, turning the class into an expressive dance party. Then we let those feelings loose onto the canvas (16 feet of foam core). Feel the flow. Tactile flow has been defined as the flow associated with the displacement of iso-stress curves on the surface of the contacting fingertips. CXXIV is a landscape depicting erosion and the destructive qualities found in nature. In creating the work, it’s important that all transitions flow together and are interconnected. The piece need to work visually but, tactile perception is also an important component in the process.
